Welcome to my 2nd Yngwie lesson style! In this lesson we will continue studying the Malmsteen’s playing. Today we have a very good exercise to practice alternate picking at high speeds, bendings and vibrato.

    Harmony and Melody:
This solo begins in the key of F# . Then, in part 6, it modulates to G#. This is a typical “Yngwie Style” modulation.

The scale used is Phrygian Major Mode. This scale is used very often by Malmsteen. If you don’t know F# you can see it as B harmonic minor scale played over F# chord.

    F# Phrygian major: F# - G - A# - B – C# - D – E
    B Harmonic minor: B – C# - D – E - F# - G - A#

The backing track repeats a riff created with this scale too. This kind of riffs is also used very often in Stratovarius and Symphony X songs.

    Tempo: 180 bpm

Practice every part with metronome and use the different backings I recorded for you.
