Rock Rhythm 'n Solo Lesson

By Pavel Denisjuk

In this tasty lesson Pavel shows us how to combine chords/double-stops with licks - to create some powerful rhythm guitar. "...also this lesson will show you how to sound "big" with only one guitar in the band. Often, when the lead guitarist plays a solo it sounds empty because there is not enough backings. Well - it can be improved! How?? Check this lesson out!"

Kristofer Dahl Collection of Sins

By Kristofer Dahl

This explicit song is going to show you one or two tricks..! Parts of it will be suitable for the absolute beginner - while the solo and the intro riff are a little trickier. If one were to categorise it in a specific genre, rock/punk-rock would be the appropriate one. Also, this lesson includes a true backing track paradise: You get the whole song without guitars, without lyrics, different speeds and whatnot. So if you feel like putting the guitar down and start yelling (like I did when recording it!) - you have the option to do so.

Legato Etude Lesson

By Pavel Denisjuk

In this lesson we will work on basics of legato. It is very important to work on legato the correct way from the very beginning as it often happens that guitarplayers practice legato the wrong way - and later spend much more time correcting mistakes than actually practicing the technique. There are a few secrets you should know in order to master this very useful technique and you will find them all inside!

String Skipping Lesson

By Pavel Denisjuk

Let's get off the crazy shred stuff and work on something equally important. String skipping is an important thing, and it is difficult even if not played lightning fast. In this lesson we will incorporate string skipping and alternate picking, create a melody, which can even work as an intro to a song, using several scale boxes of C#. If you are ready to skip some strings - check this one out!

Advanced Chords

By Pavel Denisjuk

Advanced chording is something that scares many players. Same happened to me when i saw Eric Johnson doing all the awesome chording stuff. I thought it is just too hard to use chords like that and I gave up for some time. (...) With a bit of investigation i found that the stuff is pretty simple and cool sounding so if you want to see what the big mystery of advanced chords looks like - jump in!

Tapping 3 - Two-Handed Tapping

By Kristofer Dahl

In this third 101 tapping lesson - we start to get into truly advanced stuff. This specific kind of pattern is something I personally have had great use of - I have probably used it a little more than I should have! The technique enables extremely fast playing - in fact the speeds possible easily exceed what would be possible to do with picking/legato. The two-handed approach sure is something for speedmonsters. As always with tapping - the level of difficulty isn't that high. (Doing these kind of things with any other technique would require years and years of practice).

Sweeping Basics Lesson

By Pavel Denisjuk

By request sweepmaster Pavel breaks down his technique into tiny fragments - for you to easily digest! In this part you'll see the main excercise for your right hand in order to master sweep picking. The trick for the right hand is to move the pick across all of the strings in one direction.

Pentatonic Scale 3 - Diagonal Position Shifting

By Kristofer Dahl

The diagonal pentatonic approach is the most effective way of covering ground on the guitar. Also, it is probably one of the most requested type of runs by my students. Nothing looks cooler than starting a run from the lowest notes on the low e-string, going all the way up to the highest notes on the high e-string.

Pentatonic Scale 2 - Horizontal Position Shifting

By Kristofer Dahl

If you can achieve speed on one place on the guitar, you are very close to doing it all over. And that's what this lesson is about. Some of the licks I have given you are very useful for phrasing. Basically we are playing slower melodic patterns, which (once again!) move all over the guitar. I have found them to be reminescent of both SRV and Eric Johnson - depending on which tempo you chose to play them in!

Country cheating One-on-One lesson

By Kristofer Dahl

Time for some wild Country/Bluegrass style guitar - hopefully this will get you closer to masters such as Albert Lee and Greg Koch etc.
