Are you sometimes stuck in those pentatonic boxes? Don`t know how to connect them and move up and down the neck? Why not try legato slides? The most important thing is to carefully execute the slides. Practise them very slowly until you become very comfortable playing them fast.

This lesson is inspired by Joe Satriani's tapping (listen to "Day at the Beach", "Unforgotten part 1" or "Midnight"), but also by Loureiro's and Tafolla's. You can use this exercice in lot of situations, for instance in some sweet introductions or in fast parts of a song.

This kind of dampening technique is standard for bass players, but for some reason not quite as known among guitarists. After I play the note I slightly remove both finger and the string off the fretboard while still gently touching the string with the finger. That helps to stop ringing of open string.

This solo has been composed using G# pentatonic minor and A pentatonic major scales. IThis style of playing is commonly used in jazz. This tune is a good example to show you that you can play using many scales anywhere you want.
