Difficulty 7 of 10 A Harmonic Minor Muted MelodiesIn this "exotic" sounding lesson we will explore the harmonic minor scale, by using palm muteing, bends, trills, arpegios, harmony notes. Enjoy! Difficulty 7 of 10 Major Scale ShredThe Major scale is a great key to shred in. This lesson will focus on different techniques that will hopefully inspire you. We'll be using 3 notes per string scales in order to play fast legato runs. Memorize the 4 different modes that are written below as they are all taken out of a G Major scale. Difficulty 8 of 10 Whole Tone ScaleThis scale will allow you to create interesting tensed leads. It can be used in many different contexts to bring a very unique and different feel to a song. Make sure to memorize the position of the scale and play a little bit with it to get used to its fingering. Difficulty 7 of 10 Lydian b7 ScaleThe Lydian b7 scale is a great tool to sound exotic. As its name indicates, this mode is Lydian with a minor 7th. It will work on a 7th dominant chord (Root, Maj 3rd, 5th and minor 7th). The track we'll be working on has a small modulation going from E Lydian b7 to a minor pentatonic key still in E. Difficulty 7 of 10 Ajosha Scale LessonIn his first GMC lesson Hisham shows us how to solo with the ajosha scale. Dive in to find some fresh sound shred licks and exotic melodies! Difficulty 7 of 10 Historical Failure SoloHere's a solo from the song "Historical Failure", written by myself and our very own Kris. It's in the key of e-minor, and the backing consists of three chords: e-minor, C, and D, this is very common, and easy to imporovise to. Difficulty 7 of 10 Alternate Picking ChopsThis lesson is an alternate picking study that will help you develop strong picking chops. There is only one rule here to remember: use alternate picking only! Difficulty 7 of 10 Neoclassical Shrapnel StyleThis lesson is inspired by the music of guitar players like Vinnie Moore, Tony Macalpine and many other Shrapnel Records shred guitar players. Difficulty 7 of 10 RHCP meet Zakk WyldeLicks and melodies in the style of Zakk Wylde and RHCP "One Hot Minute" era. One of Zakk's most used techniques is repetitive cross string licks over minor pentatonic scales, as well as double string licks. Difficulty 7 of 10 Flamenco Taranta LessonBy Al Christie Taranta is a song of the Miners from the south of Spain, very serious sounding and a good left hand exercise. It is also a typical Flamenco Repertoire introduction. Its such a cool technique (the hammer ons and pull offs combined) that I just had to learn it and I'm sure when you hear it for the first time, you will want to play it as well.
