You don't have to play this lightning fast right away. Start practicing slowly to develop the correct right hand picking. Now let's dive into the world of alternate picking!

Collection of Sins Guitar Solo

By Kristofer Dahl

This rock 'n roll solo is a scary mix of artificial harmonics, two-note-per-srting speed picking and double stops. You will often find that over an A5 powerchord it is common to play the note A (also called the root note) or the note E (called the "fifth" - when played over A). This could be described as an arpeggio approach - which simply mean playing the same note as in the backing chord.

Legato Horizontal Lesson

By Pavel Denisjuk

In this lesson we will work on basics of legato. It is very important to work on legato the correct way from the very beginning as it often happens that guitarplayers practice legato the wrong way - and later spend much more time correcting mistakes than actually practicing the technique. There are a few secrets you should know in order to master this very useful technique and you will find them all inside!

Tapping 4 - More Two-Handed Tapping...!

By Kristofer Dahl

Today we are going to look at a style of two handed tapping technique that's typical to Greg Howe (and probably a bunch of other shred guitarists too!). As this video lesson hopefully will demonstrate, it's a very versatile technique. The first two licks demonstrate how smooth, legato sounding, this pattern can make the pentatonic scale sound. It is also an excellent tool for creating fast runs, in either improvised or written solos. All the licks in this tapping 101 serie work well to combine with each other.
