Johan Larsson D.N.A.F.T - Solo

By Johan Larsson

"The music and the solo in D.N.A.F.T were written for Gustav Almöf's CD "SPIDER" 2003 with the band constellation called Juggernaut. (...)I usually like to combine easy melodies with more bluesy stuff. When I do rock solos I improvise a lot and catch and keep the parts that make the melody sounds interesting and dynamic. My goal is often to reach some kind of climax near the end. " I will teach you to combine speedpicking, legato and blues into a melting pot of shred...

Kirk Hammett Solo Tricks

By Kristofer Dahl

Time to look at the style of this extremely popular heavy metal guitarist. Conveniently enough, this lesson comes right after the Matserclass "Hot Blues" lesson - because Kirk Hammett's style is in fact heavily inspired by blues. This lesson will mainly deal with Kirk's solo style from the Metallica "Black Album" and onwards . Mr Hammett himself claims his goal with his new solo approach was to get "a bit bluesier" - and the result was an effective blend of metal, blues and wah-wah driven madness. This lesson will take you one step closer to playing like your guitar hero.

Eric Johnson Style Solo

By Kristofer Dahl

No one can play like Eric Johnson, his sound is the result of phenomenal picking technique, precise left and right hand synchronisation and fingering, note choice etc. Mr Johnson has extremely sensitive ears - to the point he claims he hears the difference between different battery manufactures. Because the technical aspects of his sound can get quite tricky, we are instead going to focus on the things which will make your playing sound more like Eric Johnson's, regardless of your set-up. By nailing some of the licks in this solo, you will have taken your very first steps towards Johnson land...!

Country Licks for Wannabes Lesson

By Kristofer Dahl

What would happen if we forced a true "rocker" to write a country solo? - We would get a country solo for wannabes. The advantages of such a solo are many, as an unexperienced country guitarist definately needs a different approach than a western veteran. In this lesson I give you the most common country techniques - from a rock perspective. Don't miss this oportunity - come along and take one step closer to creating your own unique style: by adding country licks into your playing. Some of these are so simple I promise you will get a few tricks under your fingers right away. Open string licks, banjo rolls, chicken picking, double stops - you have got it all here!

In this lesson we will break down licks, phrases and runs that are essential to emulate Slash's playing. The goal is for you to make your own improvised solos sound a bit more like Slash's. Hopefully you will get started right away with the supplied backing tracks.
