Luca Turilli (Rhapsody) Lesson

By Pavel Denisjuk

Listening to Rhapsody and Luca's solo albums really got me into this kind of music and now i am working on heavily incorporating it into my playing style. This solo is written in F# harmonic minor scale, using some flat 5ths in some places and also some phrygian major scale runs. If you need a good excercise for your alternate picking and muting - this is the right one for you. You'll also find some sweep picking here!

Sweeping Lesson 2 (5-string shapes)

By Pavel Denisjuk

After you got familiar with 3-string sweep picking it's time to move onto some 5-string shapes! These shapes will allow you to create some long crazy runs and you'll also see how to combine them with 3-string shapes. Cool thing about sweeps is if you have a melody in your head you can replace one note with the whole arpeggio shape and make a crazy sounding solo. For example, instead of playing the note A in a melody, you can play the whole A minor triad arpeggio.

I wrote this song exclusively for GMC! It contains most common hi-tech guitar techniques and should keep you occupied for a very long time. In order for you to easier digest the techniques, and eventually master the whole peace - I have provided relevant exercises for the harder licks. So no excuses for not learning this one! You will learn arpeggio substitutions, legato arpeggios, Santana- , Eric Johnson- , Paul Gilbert- , Slash-, Steve Vai- style licks.
