Difficulty 4 of 10 Modern Blues SoloingHigh-Gain blues, typical to players like Gary Moore, maybe Satch and even Andy Timons! So, it's in key of C minor, lots of bends, few double stops, hard picking etc. Difficulty 3 of 10 Acoustic BluesA standard blues lick on the acoustic guitar. The beat is 4\4 and the chords are based on E7 A7 B7. It's not a difficult one and it's fun. I think this is a good start if you are new to blues music. If you want to improvise on it, the E pentatonic with the blue note( a# ) will do just fine. Difficulty 4 of 10 Funky Riffing LessonDuring the funk era there were many bands and musician playing some really tight grooves. Here`s a little riff that is based on a classic funky groove. The main theme is played using the E minor scale and C5, B5, and A5 for changes. E7 and E9 chords are derived from E mixolydian scale. Difficulty 3 of 10 12 Bar Blues RhythmIn response to a request on the forum, I will show you some rhythms and patterns to play a blues progression. This is a standard 12 bar blues. Try to use the E minor blues/pentatonic scale or E Mixolydian scale to improvise. Difficulty 4 of 10 Distorted Blues FunkBased on a normal blues chord progression(1-4-5), the scale is A minor and also A pentatonic with the blue note (d#). This piece is also a good right hand damping exercise because I use alot of it, especially on the bass strings. Difficulty 3 of 10 Bossa Nova LessonThis Brazillian music is a fusion of cool jazz elements with various rhythms, particularly the samba. I'm using a lot of maj7 & 7 chords such as Gmaj7 Cmaj7 B7 D7, and also dim chords. Difficulty 6 of 10 Acoustic Country BluesThis acoustic lesson is in the country/blues style without the use of a pick. To do it right you need to block the rest of the strings. It's an excellent exercise that gives single line melodies a powerful sound. Difficulty 5 of 10 Evening Blues LessonMarcus shows you how to effectively use the volume knob to create a dynamic blues solo improvisation. Scale wise, if you use the B Dorian and Blues scale - you can't go wrong. Difficulty 5 of 10 Non-shuffle Blues RhythmWe continue to explore the different blues rhythms with Gabriel Leopardi. As opposed to the last lesson, we now use 8th notes played without shuffle. Contains Steve Ray Vaughan style riffs. Difficulty 5 of 10 SRV - Stevie Ray VaughanMuris presents a lesson in style of SRV, and combines both riffing and soloing in his style. The lesson contains SRV "raking" style, 12 bars blues progression, bends and double bends, left hand muting.
