Guitar phrasing

By Kristofer Dahl

Learning to phrase with the guitar is as important as learning to speak with your mouth. The word phrasing is more commonly used in jazz music than rock - however, by thinking in terms of "phrasing" and "improvisation" a rock guitarist can explore new territory. Eric Johnson Style Solo

By Kristofer Dahl

No one can play like Eric Johnson, his sound is the result of phenomenal picking technique, precise left and right hand synchronisation and fingering, note choice etc. Mr Johnson has extremely sensitive ears - to the point he claims he hears the difference between different battery manufactures. Because the technical aspects of his sound can get quite tricky, we are instead going to focus on the things which will make your playing sound more like Eric Johnson's, regardless of your set-up. By nailing some of the licks in this solo, you will have taken your very first steps towards Johnson land...!

Improvise Like Slash Lesson

By Kristofer Dahl

No matter what Slash plays, he does it like no one else. Doesn't matter if the run is fast or slow. In this lesson we will break down licks, phrases and runs that are essential to emulate Slash's playing. The goal is for you to make your own improvised solos sound a bit more like Slash's. Hopefully you will get started right away with the supplied backing tracks.
