Style

There is alot more to Gus G then just shred, although this is what he can be associated with most. His work with Dream Evil and firewind show that he has incredible riff writting abilities. mixing melodic soloing and great tone and feeling with absolutly mind blowing heavy riffs. A great example of his versatility can be noticed highly in his song "The Fire and the Fury" off of Burning Earth by Firewind.

Heavy Melodic Shred to sum it up

Technique

Gus G plays in a 1 step down tuning. When Analyzing Gus G's style we find a very power metal type playing. His rythem playing is based around power chord and open string runs using simple rythems that include sets of triplets in much of his stuff. speed and melody is very important in his work. Gus G has said that his style is unidentifyable even to him, he plays what he wants to play. very noticeable are his use of Major scales and his inclusion of Ionian scales in most of his shred.

Influences

Gus G like all guitarists had many influences to help them become who they are as players today. Gus G's first influences began with Frampton and his work "Frampton Comes Alive" from there Gus has listed many Influences:

Frampton Al Di Meola Joe Stump John Norum Steve Vai Yngwie Malmsteen (introduced Gus to Shred) Uli Roth Michael Schenker Paul Gilbert Marty Friedman Ritchie Blackmore Hendrix Jimmy Page
