Line 6 Variax Standard-dead Pickup

I have a Line 6 Standard Variax-guitar which I bought from a private person some time ago. However, the battery driven pickup of the thick sixth string does not work. It does not catch the string vibrations. What to do? Try factory reset and/or firmware update? I live in Sweden.

I have tried to catch the lyrics for the song ”Boogie for piece” by the Swedish bluesrock group "Sky High but I can´t hear som of the words Clas Yngström sings (he is a marvelous guitar player!). I would appreciate help very much. Here is what I hear and do not hear (?):
