A little background informations:

I began playing guitar when I was 9 years old. In the beginning I had no teacher. I learned by watching instructional videos and looking for info on the Internet. When I was about 12 I took lessons for about 2 years with a private instructor, but I didn't learn that much.

Today I've been playing for almost 9 years and feel like I should be much better than I am. I think with proper guidance I can improve a lot faster.

Music that i like:

I like modern blues, rock, metal, progressive metal, experimental, old 70s and 80s rock, some jazza, and other genres.

Guthrie Govan
Paul Gilbert
Steve Vai
Gary Moore
Zack Wylde
Joe Satriani
Eric Johnson
Jimmi Hendrix

Favourite songs:

Guthrie Govan - Wonderful Slippery Thing (Album Version)
Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover
Steve Vai - Tender Surrender
Jimmi Hendrix - Foxy Lady
Jimmi Hendrix - Purple Haze

- Become a good Improviser

- Fretboard knowledge
- Improvisation outside of a couple of boxes
- Being aware of the harmony in a song while improvising
- Timing (not too bad in common time signatures and moderate tempos)

Hi, I want to buy a cheap 7-string guitar that is below $450 dlls. I've never had a 7-string so I just want something I can mess around with.

I found two options: Dean Vendetta VNXM and Ibanez RG7321.

The Vendetta is $200 and the RG is $400. If I bought the Vendetta I could spend the extra $200 on getting some decent pickups.

What would you recommend me?

Hi guys,

This is my first attempt ever to write a song. I've been studying theory to know what works and what doesn't and I think there's been progress in my playing.

Now, the song... I think I have the right concept in my mind but haven't been able to put it on actual music. I would greatly appreciate if you guys could give me some feedback, suggestions, or anything that could help me.

Hi Pavel, I've been practicing sweep picking for a week now, and I know it's VERY little time but if you could track my progress and give me your opinion it'd be great.

Can I upload a track every few weeks so you can listen to it?

I don't know, I think it helps me commit to practice if someone else notices my progress.

This is my first recording at 55 bpm 6 notes each beat. I feel I'm doing ok since a week ago was the first time I sweeped in my life. blink.gif

Oh! I forgot to mention I'm sweeping with the bridge pickup. I figured if I can sweep cleanly with that one, then the neck pickup would be a lot easier. Do you think I should continue doing this?

I want to buy a new guitar. I was looking at different options and found this one:

I don't have much money to spend, about 600 dlls. The music I like to play is blues, rock, and some metal. Is this a good option?

Do you recommend me something else?

P.S. I specially like slash's sound. smile.gif
