Hiya GMC,
I have been only playing for about 3 years and bought my first acoustic for $110 (Carlo Robelli). I bought a chord book and began to practice, not really getting anywhere. I begin to take lessons in my hometown for about 6 months and then got deployed for military service. I still practiced and began to find others that could play that started me up on learning scales. Then I discovered tabs, WOOT! Still love my acoustic and play it when the mood strikes me.
I have since bought a new guitar, Ibanez AF85 Artcore Hollowbody Electric Guitar, and I love it. I have looked around my new area in Holland and have failed to find others who play or instructors in my area. Looking up technique online, as I usually do, I found the GMC website. I played around with all the free instructions for a few weeks before deciding to become a member. I am very impressed so far, and a little overwhelmed too. I am looking forward to learning from the great instructors, members and hopefully contributing as much as I can.
My influences cover a wide range of guitarist, seeing that I was born in the 70's. My biggest influence has been Zakk Wylde. He has such a wide variety of music; he can shred with best of them or lay it down acoustically. There are many others who I like, too many to mention but a few that come to mind, Doyle Dykes, Joe Satriani, John Mayer, Randy Rhodes, Eddie Van Halen...just to name a few.
Thanks all,
ROCK ON!!!
