Has anyone else listened to the new Maudlin of the Well album? I can't get enough of it even though it's less metaly than their previous albums. Mia Matsumiya has a huge roll on Violin on this album (she's awesome). I'm a big fan of their guitarist Greg Massi, but there is definately less of him this time around...

Did I mention it's free? Check it out:

I'm seeing Opeth tomorrow night in Austin, who's jealous? biggrin.gif

But really... This will be my first time to see them. Has anyone here been to their shows? Are they as tight live as they are on their albums?

I found this list funny...

Highlights:
13. It is acceptable to listen to non-doomy music if you play it at 1/4 of its normal tempo.
44. If there are more than 30 beats per minute, the music is too fast.
154. If half the audience hasn't left out of frustration before you've finished your first note, then you're playing too fast.

I'm looking at getting a new guitar and really like the ESP EC-1000 (http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/ESP-LTD-Deluxe-EC1000-Electric-Guitar?sku=516629). I've tried both the passive and emg versions and really like both of them, but it's hard to try out a guitar in the shop with all of the noise and I'm not at home playing through my Boogie... I tend to play heavier stuff - Opeth, Pantera, misc Death Metal, etc... I don't have any experience with EMGs, so I'm not sure what to do. I want to make sure I don't loose any clean sound...

Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

After taking 8 months off to recover from a hand injury and surgery, I'm finally getting back into it. I'm not sure where to start, I feel like I've forgotten everything I knew. My timing, speed, and coordination are really suffering. I really need to work up my hand strength and coordination without overexerting myself. Any suggestions? Thanks!
