The last couple of months I've been mainly playing my acoustic guitar and I haven't been practicing seriously. I didn't have alot of time and I was tired alot, so I just kept to strumming chords while watching tv.

Recently I've been able to find alot more time to play guitar and picked up my electric again and I was quite surprised to find that I've become alot faster at speedpicking and I'm able to maintain high speeds for longer times. This got me thinking about how this could have happened and I think I have to conclude that all that strumming chords removed alot of tention (which is bad ofcourse!) from my playing and my muscles seem to have learned to relax. Speed picking almost seems effortless now.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Hey all. Don't know how many of you are familiar with Monster Magnet. I think they made alot of cool music and if you're into some stoner rock/metal then you definitily have to check out their 1995 album called "Dopes to Infinity".

Since then they've changed a bit and they are still able to really rock. Their latest album "Mastermind" is filled with great hard rock songs. The video for the single of the album is worth a watch as well cool.gif

Hey all,

have you hard of the band Animals as Leaders? They have a very cool instrumental album out, based on Tosin Abasi's playing of the 8 string. He has a very interesting technique and is able to produce some great sounds.

Hey everyone,

got a relatively unknown band here that I think is awesome: Omega Massif
Slow crushing riffs and drumming, and epic build ups. Guess you gotta have a taste for it, but I love it. cool.gif

Just ordered my ticket for Rock Werchter this year. So many bands that I want to see live including: Faithless, Muse, Skunk Anansie, Green Day, Rise Against, Rammstein, Porcupine Tree, Pearl Jam, Them Crooked Vultures, Alice in Chains, Wolfmother and The Black Keys... I can hardly wait laugh.gif
So, anyone else going? smile.gif
