Since I've been preparing an upcoming Student-Instructor lesson on the topic "contemporary jazz improvisation", I made a take to accompany the article. I may be excused for the playing in some spots, since I didn't really played jazz for some 20 years or so.... *lol* Anyhow, its not the normal kind of playing found here, but I think that maybe some of You may find it interesting.

Awesome man. I love how you're moving through arpeggios to match the chord changes. Very nice

Very cool Staffay ! Nice voice leading ideas, melodic approach, pentatonic scales, tetrachord soloing, chromaticism, arpeggio, motives, sequence. Great stuff man
P.S. Your guitar sound is leaning towards Pat Metheny

Thx. Pedja! Yeah, I really like the more mid-range sound... but this is not investigated really yet since Im trying to find my "own" sound in this genre, and haven't really succeeded yet....

Hehe... yeah, I noticed that too... Even that I pretty well know what Im playing, I really dont have a clue what "tetrachord soloing" is.... Probably something that I have another name for.

Soloing in groups of 4 notes! You know how every scale/mode has lower and upper tetrachord? Do re mi fa , Sol la ti do for example C D E F , G A B C. But that is just tetrachords for Ionian, there are so many more for other modes as well

Aaahhh, now I know what You mean! I use to refer to them as just "clusters" I think....

This improvisation is really good! Well done, Staffy! Didn´t know you played jazz so well.
Pedja, could you please explain the term of tetrachord? I googled for it, but I didn´t get it.

Didn't know you had this talent for jazz!!

I noticed that you have a TC Konnekt 48 in your studio. I just bought one this week. Great sounding unit and very flexible I'm learning.

Yeah, I've been using it for nearly a year by now, and its really great sounding with top-notch pre-amps and AD/DA 's. The remote control is very handy and I use it all the time, even that I had to study the manual deeply to really get a grip on it. I have always loved the TC-stuff for its quality, even that they are a little more expensive than their competitors. Congrats to Your unit, I KNOW that You will have most fun with it!
