I enjoyed the first video until 40 seconds in. When their song starts.

They kind of makes me miss the Hanson Brothers

I'm not sure it's appropriate saying you hope they all get cancer and die a long painful death, all they did was create music they love.
Their also all fairly strong Christians so I think they are nice people as well, not really deserving of such things you mentioned
But yeah, that song wasn't anything special.

Yes, I heard that they were christians... But how do we know that they're making music they love, and
not just making music they know will get people to love them?

I think you hit the nail on the head with that statement.

They dont "make music" they just lip sync to a song someone else probably wrote, then make noises on their guitars that sound like a group of five year olds tearing apart a guitar center.

The whole "high school musical" craze made me want to jump off the Disney castle just so my death could Br()()toly scar some of the children who enjoy Miley Cirus more than Tori Amos(THANKS MARCUS)

I dont blame them, blame the music industry for making this kind of music, and the community to idolise it.

I got a theory but I think you will think its crap. NO ONE has a preference for music it's what he THINKS he likes.

Yep, probably starts with someone saying "Guys, I'm gonna make you famous"
And from there you got hit potential but probaly lost your soul somewhere along the way.

I don't really find it so hard to imagine that some people can enjoy that. What's up with all the hate I've been seeing lately towards artists on the GMC forum? Sure, say what you think, but sometimes it feels like people are bashing bands for the sake of bashing.

Simple Scenario
1.Person 1 who likes anything thats lighter than air tells person 2 about (Insert Bad Band Here)
2.Person 2 likes it because his/her friend likes it too.
3.Person 2 tells person 3 who is just like person one and two about the same band
4.Person 3 (See Step 1)
5.Person 4... yeah i think you get the point
Worst part is that a lot of people are like this (and i mean A LOT)
There are people that like it because they like it not because some else likes it. This scenario is most common however.

There must be A LOT for so many crap bands to be famous

Sounds like bitter experience?
I don't dislike (hate is a strong word... right?) this band just because they're sponsored by Disney (even though that's a massive part!). I dislike them because,
I personally, love music with soul, with writers that put their heart into making an piece of art!
Like Blind Guiardian, looong time between albums, and every last song they make is like the sound of rainbows filled with hope in my ears!
Like Agalloch, who makes music that makes you feel like you can hear the very earth taking it's last rattling breath of air...
Not like Jonas Brothers, who write songs about girls, flying around the world for no aparent reason, and instant messenger (yes, I did the research!)
I've said it before though, I have very strong opinions when it comes to music, so I'm gonna cut it with this before I go on too long

Man this is ridiculous. I'm not allowed to make a balls related joke on a forum, but someone else is allowed to wish badness upon a band merely because they don't like them?

With a growing forum and at times a reduced moderator team it's sometimes difficult to keep up.
So please for the convenience and to make our job easier report the post you find inappropriate.
EDIT: No need to report since I've found it in this thread, thanks, will look into it.

I used to feel this way when I would see what I considered "crap" music making millions, little by little I understood that it is a business, as someone said, they probably don't write a single note, they have hit songwriters, and top of the line producers, that do everything.
So then there is a question for you, do you think those songwriters, producers suck?
To me the answer is no, they are brilliant, they write exactly what 15 year old girls want to hear, the know the market and they exploit it, they are filthy rich, I am sure we would like to be in their shoes. They are probably amazing guitarists/musicians/composers that write their original and personal music that is probably heard by very few as it is not mainstream. For instance the guitarist Jason Hook, he played guitar for Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and he is an outstanding guitarist, he his own solo CD where he expresses his musicality. I am sure that that is also the case with many of the people writing, recording and producing for these mainstream artists.
This music is written for a target audience, it is not most of us here at GMC.
When it comes down to it, all music is really commercial, it is just that the targeted audience is different. Lets talk about Allan Holdsworth for example, his music is bizarre, different, his guitar playing is truly innovative and unique, He plays whatever he feels like playing, and really creates and explores different things. Great, awesome but he also has a target audience, that might be Me, you, maybe all of us here at GMC. Because we are looking for things like that.
There is always music that you really dislike, I barely listen to radio because most of it is not of my taste, what can you do, except to shut down the TV and Radio.
My wife sometimes listens to Reggaeton which I can't stand, if you don't know what that is you are truly blessed, but here in Miami you can't get away from it. And even though I hate it I know that behind it there are a bunch of producers, business man, making money and giving "music" for a certain type of audience.

LOL! Yes, As someone who also lives in Miami, I can definitely say that Reggaeton is huge, But I can't Stand it
Although, Jose is right it's all just a big business.
And, about the Jonas Brothers. I know first hand, my little sister has all the Jonas Brothers albums and blast them around the house, It's driving me Crazy!
The Scary thing about it is... that a couple of the songs are actually pretty catchy and I'll find myself singing them inadvertently every once in a while

It all comes down to rhythmic urination in the end. If I want to widdle the rhythm to a song it's a hit and if I want to vomit the rhythm it's bad. Jonas Brothers more the second one
Posted by: Pi38 Oct 23 2008, 02:19 PM
Thank you! The Jonas Brothers are one of the worst things to happen to music since, well, since something else bad happened to music!
