Hey comrades!
Since our very own Slavenko Eraser came with this brilliant idea, I thought that I should initiate the 'Balkan Punk Collab' - sweet melodies inspired by the music of the Balkans and punk havoc - what could be nicer? It has a tint of reggae but it's not quite reggae
As inspiration, I totally recommend Sinisa's great lesson: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/30-countries/
Check out the parts he did for Romania, Hungary, Macedonia - I am recommending these because of the phrasing - listen closely to see how these styles are played.
That being said, here are the tech specs!
Tempo: 100 BPM
Key: G minor
Scales: G Aeolian, G minor pentatonic, G harmonic minor
Time signature: 4/4
Material format:
- one .wav containing your solo
- one .mp3 containing the whole backing and solo
Deadline: April 25th

Who's in??
Cosmin
Cosmin...How do I download that attachment? Each time I press on the link it takes me to a page where the file played with no option of getting an MP3 file...I know I'm doing something wrong as others have already downloaded it.
Balkan Punk? What's that? I've didn't come with this idea
Time to get all Gogol Bordello!! Hell yeah!!!
For Slav:-
Aye, that's nice man, but I thought that a bit of punk wouldn't hurt anybody! It's fun!
Punk you say?
Hm...
this happens to be a style that I like
Ahh! Guitarrero! Always a welcome guest in my collabs!
Hey guys!

The entries are officially over gentlemen! Thank you very much!
Nice takes Chris and Neil...... or nice take everyone...
I miss the days of having time for collabs, you saw what my quick scan of the collab list got me last time... Justin Bieber!
So it's like this, I've had limited time lately so when I did have a little time, I made a deal with myself to play to whatever came up first when I browsed the forum that evening.... thanks alot Gab!
You really let those pink curtains go to your head! LOL!!
No more challenging myself, unless it's for a nap.
Hey guys, bear with me till tomorrow Still tweaking my take, so don't throw a rotten tomato my way..
It's ready and it's got balkan vocalizing also Rendering as I'm writing
And here it is!
Mates, I think our little balkan vagabond trio went more than nice! Thank you for joining me, in the first place and secondly here are the comments for my dear comrades:
Guitarrero - I think that aside from the punk side, which is obviously your favorite pick of the whole musical bunch you have a nice direction in the balkan oriented part. Smooth atmosphere building - especially those laid back octaves - and good rhythmic variations - recorded a separate vocal track which was more bassy if we could say it like that for your balkan part
Sensible Jones - Great note choices on both parts of the track, and I especially liked the way in which you approached the balkan one - the small detailed endings of the phrases and the the articulation elements such as that harmonic at 01:28 was a soul balm
Both of you should take care with the rhythm of some of the phrases - I know that's what happens when you aren't very sure of what to play So, my suggestion here is to go for composition a bit more and try to be able to sing your takes perfectly before recording!
Now, I am looking forward to having you too on the James Brown Collab - coming up tomorrow most likely
Cheers and thanks again guys!
Cosmin
Sounds really Balkan!!
Gitarrero plays realy like someone from this area
Yes, yes! Slav you're the expert on this as you are a native, so I hope we managed to be up to the challenge
Glad you enjoyed it gentlemen!
