GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Freak Guitar Camp

Posted by: Mandos Feb 6 2009, 08:49 AM

I'm seriously considering going to freak guitar camp some year in the not so distant future (next year maybe) and I'm wondering if any of you've been there?

How good do you need to be to be able to enjoy it to the fullest?

I've never even heard of a camp like that, but it's sounds awesome. It would be so cool to learn from Mattias smile.gif

It sounds like lots of fun. Berklee has summer courses and Guitar Week which probably works out the same way. Go for it man smile.gif

That's definitely a good thing to do, you will travel, hand out with other players and interesting people, meet them, and exchange experiences. This is very cool! smile.gif

Yeah, it's awesome. I'm just a bit concerned about the expected level of proficiency. I haven't seen anything written about it anywhere, but I know that they play some very advanced stuff.

Go man, that's place where you will get so many connections, meet great musicians, I would totally go!

I've seen a lot about the camp and it looks like a lot of fun!
I don't really think you need to have any skills to get in besides pay your fee.
But you can probably verify that by emailing them here: [email protected]

Yeah, I think that they admit anyone. I'm just thinking about what skill I'd need to feel comfortable. wink.gif I'll probably try to get in next year.

One of my mates goes there every year, he says that it is awesome smile.gif

Think I will go there next year smile.gif

Aw. You must go if you can, regardless of playing proficiency because no doubt you'll be inspired to learn to the best of your abilities. Mattias invited me personally when I met him and he's one of the most approachable dudes I have had the pleasure to witness. Alas I've never managed to go due to work commitments sad.gif Also keep your eyes peeled for guests musicians joining the fun - one year that I really wanted to go, Ron Thal (aka Bumblefoot) showed up!

Search in You Tube, there are some cool videos made by people that went to the FGC with some wild experiences and some live footage of Ron Thal and Mattias playing biggrin.gif

Cool, I'll see you there next year then Erik. (Scandinavian week of course. wink.gif)
