Hey GMC, let me use one of the few moments in which I am online in the moment to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year :-)
I am back home since the beginning of December and I managed to change my internet provider, unfortunately so far my new provider didn't manage to get the line for internet and telephone into my place, as a result I am completely offline. Hopefully things will be back to normal by the middle of January, at least this is the estimation in the moment. The good thing about not being able to make phone calls or go online is that you suddenly have much more time that you can spend with a guitar in your hands, nice side effect ;-)
Anyway, enjoy the holidays and see you guys here as soon as possible.
Cheers
Marcus

Nope Ben, unfortunately here are no snowy mountains in the area where I live, so I can't go skiing whenever I would like to. I started skiing when I was 3 years old, back then m parents and me went to do skiing vacations every year, I just love it.

A guitarist should not play World of Warcraft while the intro for the show is already running and a nervous tech is wating with a Les Paul in his hands, while the guitarplayer says something about "just this one mob..." ^^
PS: Yes, I actually made it on stage in time, and I was not the only one playing that long ;-)

There are a whole lot of good ones now :-) I like Mike Tysons, but I guess my fave one is the one from John Lennon, didn't know that one so far, but I fully agree.

My fave sports of all time will allways be skiing, but I love riding my bike almost as much, swimming is great too.

Thanks for all your greetings, I am having a great time here. And yup, some Caipirinhas as well ;-) And also the worst sunburn I ever had in my live, I am glad I don't have to play any shows in the moment, the touch of my shirt already hurts like hell, I don't want to imagine having one of my Les Pauls hanging on my shoulder ;-)

HAha, why not, too fast ? biggrin.gif

Nope, just overplayed ;-) And it is great to hear you guys are having fun with some BG songs. If they seem to be too hard in the beginning, just take your time, try to play the tricky parts slow, until you manage to play them, only then speed up. And it might be a good idea to break the songs up into the individual parts, specially with Blind Guardian, our songs tend to have about 300% more parts than most other bands use per song ;-) So go through them one after the other and only put them together in the end, it might make things easier for you. And like this you can really focus on the parts that are giving you a hard time.

Hi guys, greetings from Brazil :-) I am just spending a couple of weeks here, recharging my batteries after being on the road for the last two years :-) I will be back home and online (hopefully, I am having some problems with my internet provider at home, long ugly story...) in December, so see all of you soon :-)
Cheers

I wouldn't say there are no new good bands in Germany, actually I even disagree. Check out Powerwolf for example, I absolutely love them. Their latest album "Blood of the saints" is absolutely amazing. When I first heard about them I was a bit estranged by their image and lyrics, but when I really listened to their music I was hooked immediately. Another great band would be Masterplan, they just presented a new lineup and are about to release a new album as far as I know, in case you don't know it check out their second album Aeronautics, I really like all their albums, but this one is their best in my opinion. Those are only two examples, so I wouldn't really say the german scene is dead today. It might have been stringer back in the old days (lol, somehow I feel very old now ^^) but there are still awesome bands around today. I guess it is a bit like this with every scene, there are ups and downs, at some point there are many bands, and a bit later only the strong survive. Take a look at the scandinavian scene for example, in the 90s there were a million melodic death metal bands coming from there, and today there is In Flames, Opeth and Dark Tranquility left, the strong ones survived, but it doesn't mean there are no other good bands from that area anymore. Isn't this a great thing after all, digging out new jewels? ;-)

Wacken is always cool, and of course we also don't play in front of 100000 people every day, so yes, it is still special. And last time definitely was a very good day for us, we got the whole show recorded and in my humble opinion we delivered a pretty good gig ^^ About lessons, damn, yes, there will be many more lessons, also covering BG style of course, my problem in the moment is my internet provider at home. I applied for a faster line and they messed it up big time, so I am having serious problems with my line now for whatever reason. Of course they say they did everything perfectly fine and they are not willing to let me out of the contract so everything will go to court now, I hope I will have a normally working internet again soon so I can get back to work normally. In the moment I am in Brazil, here I have internet at least, slow, but at least working ;-) So please be a bit more patient about new lessons from my side, they will come soon :-)

Hi Jeff, it is cool to hear that you want to work on your rhythm skills with
some of my songs :-) Songs that I really liky playing and that
have some cool rhythm chops would be "The script for my requiem"
"Somewhere far beyond", "Cry for Tanelorn" or "A voice in the dark".
All those songs are fast ones, if you prefer something slower you could
try "Another stranger me" or "Nightfall".
When it comes to songs from orher bands i would definitely go for
Metallica, Master of Puppets would be my first choice.
I hope i could help you, let me know what you will go
For in the end.
Cheers
Marcus
PS: Another very nice BG song would be "This will
never end", it has some pretty tricky rhythm stuff ;-)

No song makes me feel guilty ;-) I don't care at all about a genre of music, for me there are only to types of songs: the ones that I like and the ones that I dislike. And it doesn't play a role if the song is metal, pop, classic or whatever.

He didn't post, he was in bed with a flu ^^
Atlanta was great, we had a lot of fun at that show, we got some great reviews and I met a lot of cool guys, incl Todd :-) The only downer was the high temperature outside and the airconditions set to freezing the southpole, this allways kills me, so I came back home sick. But I am fine again :-)

The golden rule of touring: keep it simple, the more stuff you carry around with you, the more things can go wrong. And as Murphy told us, all those things WILL go wrong at some point ^^ Funny to see Petruccis setup is pretty close to mine, just that for me it is Tripple Rectifier with Axe FX :-)

Hmmm there are a couple of names coming to my mind immediately...

Michale Schenker / Chris Oliva / Zakk Wylde

or

David Gilmour / Mark Knopfler / Joe Bonamassa

or

Guthrie Govan / Satriani / Vai (that might be very interesting :-) )
