Hey Andrew, I have the Digitech GNX4 and I have a couple of questions about it.
The first question is, do you know how to add patches to it like these? http://www.digitech.com/soundcomm/guitar_p...p?productid=199 And the second is, how do you get a good sound out of a guitar workstation, I have heard that you should play them through a clean non-tube amp because it doesn't sound as good if you do that. So what should I play my workstation through any amp, a clean amp, a computer, etc? |

One more question. Is it worth getting another multi-effects unit like the POD X3 Live if I already have this.

One more question. Is it worth getting another multi-effects unit like the POD X3 Live if I already have this. Hi Unleash, sorry, I know nothing about the GNX4 - I have a Pod XTL myself. IN general, modeling effects like the pod are designed to be played through a clean non-guitar amp to get the vest out of them, but they should work reasonably well through the clean channel of a guitar amp, but it depends on the exact amp. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Can you give me an example of a clean non-guitar amp that would be good to play them through. And is it worth getting more than one multi-effects system?

I think they mean either a PA or a keyboard amp Unleash.
Worth getting more then 1 multi - can't answer that one as I think it depends on what you use them for. Thanks Tony.
Well I thought about it and I decided it was because each one has its own unique features. |

I'm looking into buying a new effects box to replace my Zoom GFX 707. One of the ones I was considering was the GNX 3000 but I'm also looking at the Boss GT-8 and the Line6 POD X3. I can't make up my mind which one to go for. How have you found your GNX 3000 and have you had any experience with the X3 and the GT-8. Any advice and comments would be much appreciated. Incidentally, this is my first post, I live in Cape Town, South Africa and joined GMC about 8 months ago. Best thing that ever happened to my 30 years of guitar playing. I'm trying to catch up on the subject aswell since I'm on the look for something. Makes my head spin as usual since first off I don't know what to use it for (gigs, rehearsal, studio) I think I like the sounds from Vox Tonelab LE and Zoom G9.2tt the best, though the Tonelab lacks a USB connection and that's cruisal if I want to connect to my laptop (I have no MIDI and no mixer) Which leaves me with the Zoom that I suppose works for both rehearsing and studio work. Then comes this GNX4 and reviels a built in 8 track recorder, drum machine, plays mp3's or MIDI drum patterns. Perfect! I could use it for recording songs both in the rehearsal room with the band and at home. I strongly doubt though this piece will compete with a POD, G9.2tt or Tonelab in a live situation. And there's tons of sounds to download for free in user groups together with that "mfx supermodels" which according to what I read is teriffic! Being involved in new creation of music both with my own band and a piece of studio work where the studio is quite a bit away so we send files back and forth. I have to have a high quality guitar device for recording. So about this GNX4 I think it's superb for the studio, my guess is that the GNX 3000 is aimed more towards live gigs. Then there's KORG AX3000 that I still have to check out. Let's see if it beats the versatility of the GNX4 on recording without even having to sit next to a computer. Straight into a flash memory card. I havn't checked the POD in detail myself but read plenty on the forums here thanks to which I don't have to dig too deep there, thanks to about half the members here I will check on the GNX3000 a bit more too to compare with the GNX4 for useability. -------------------- My bands homepage

OK, I 've decided to invest in a Line 6 Pod X3 live. Done all the research, read all the reviews and the X3 seems the way to go. There have been a few problems with build quality and software bugs but Line 6 seem to sorting them all out either with firmware upgrades or new hardware releases. All in all it seems to be the effects processor of choice and most users say that it blows away the Boss GT8, Digitech GNX 3000 etc. Sadly, I am unable to try one out as they are only being released in South Africa in February so I am having to get a relative to bring one out from the UK when they come here on holiday in January. Also comes at half the price because everything we buy locally we pay double. Cool! Good luck with it. My mind now is set on the GNX4, it also looks the GSP1101 is a bright shining star but I really want the GPX4's built in recorder, MIDI and mp3 player which would suit my needs. But we'll see when I can get one. -------------------- My bands homepage

I remember reading somewhere that the GNX 3000 uses new and better amp modelling technology than the GNX4. You maight want to check that out before making the final decision.
