Congrats dude! I gained weight when I quit, but that made me start working out and I lost a LOT of weight. But I've been having problems (again) with my back for the past year or so and I've gained some back. sad.gif

congrats and great news you lost weight I actually gained 5 kilos the last time I stopped (Jan 17 2007).

It was the 3rd and last time I attempted to quit smoking. From my experience the easiest way was to stop from one day to the next (but with 2 months of mental preparation).

If you still sometimes feel bad not smoking or get second thoughts I'd recommend Allen Carr's Easy Way to stop smoking. You might not agree with all of what's in the book but it's a great help. I actually read all 3 times when I stopped. The first 2 times failed because I thought I could still smoke on special occasions.... and well one cigarette led to the next and I got hooked again.

Some people can handle it but I can't be a casual smoker, I get hooked at once again....

Are you already noticing that you are much fitter, sleep better and have more energy? Great feeling to be rid of those smokes.... BTW... the best moments to stop are when you are having stress!!!

Yeah, people usually gain weigt, but I started exercising and lifting weight at the same time and eating a lot healthier all at the same time.
I just hope I can keep it up!

you can, mate....it's all a mindset.
I quit smoking during the week when I work, cause that's when I'm most tired etc....but weekends, that's my let loose time. Junk food, parties, all of it biggrin.gif
during the week I'm healthy, salads, early nights etc... smile.gif
Gotta balance, ya know smile.gif

I mean no offence to anyone by this but why would anyone smoke? Why would you voluntarily reduce your life expectancy? Never made sense to me.

After our compulsory education had ended- my friends and i spent the summer smoking and drinking silly amounts. We were 16.

At the end of the summer, i stopped, it wasnt a "quit" situation really as i wasnt really hooked.
My two friends however were hooked, they've smoke around ten a day since.

Since then i've watched them go from broke to pennyless, and also some prety bad skin situations going on!!

Luckily i didnt have to quit, but remember guys- good things are worth putting in the effort for.

Good Luck to all, i look forward to reading all the "I quit!! No cigarettes for 6 months!" being posted here later smile.gif

Thanks for asking. It's going great!
Haven't smoked in more than a month now. I started lifting weights and running and have so much more energy now. I ran 10 minutes non stop this morning, which is a lot for me. :-)
I could barely run 2 minutes before I quit...
