Hey so When ever i go to practise, i usually set aside minimum of a hour a day(maximum is as long as i have hahahaah). For the first 10 minutes i usually find myself warming up(i dont really need help with my warm up routine, it does its job). Then after i warm up all i find my self doing is pulling out a metronome and doing different techniques like, tapping, sweeping, working on powerchords, alternate picking with scale fragments. Its only like once a week that i look into a new scale(cause i have this bad habit where if i learn a scale i HAVE to learn it all across the neck lol, thats why i only really know A minor aeolian and E minor aeolian) or chordal inversions, theory etc. I was wondering if there was anything i could change to my routine that will help me, i really want to start with some properly practised theory(cause i want to go to college for music) so i want to know how i could incorporate that into my practise too. I probably didn't mention all that i do in this but i would love some help,
Thanks so much!

The thing about being really stupid, is that there are a zillion ways to be a moron. There are usually several ways to be intelligent, given a situation, but it is a small finite number. But there are always a zillion ways to be to blithering idiot. So finding a new way to have the intellect of an artichoke is nothing to be proud of really, it is easy to do.

So true... To bad im still an artichoke haha

Actually that Routine sounds very good and solid to me!
I think it's very important to learn a scale all across the fretboard, it will even make it easier to learn other scales in the long term!

Only thing I can suggest is that you invest some time in improvisation, just record a chord progression or use a jamming program and jam away! and also optionly to put invest time in composing, because after all if you don't apply all the practice and theory in you'r playing and own music, it's preety much useless!

I hope I helped smile.gif

Yes that was helpful cause it leads me into another part i left out, improv and composition. i usually spend 30 minutes working on these two aspects but i dont knnw how to create a bass or drum track like everyone does on GMC, i have a mac so i was wondering if there is any programs that are good for this on mac and if anyone knows how to use them.

I do just oposite... If I ever "leave aside" 1 hour in one day, I never practice even 30minutes. But if I sit down to practice with no reason at all, it can go on for hours and hours and I look at the clock, realize it's 4 in the morning and I'm hungry. Know the feeling? wink.gif

Hi Sami ! Sounds like your practicing the right stuff. But it can get a bit boring just practicing random techniques on there own. Remember when practicing GMC lessons your learning techniques, scales and a dash of theory together. So why not check out some lessons that feature all the techniques YOU want to learn and build your routine around that? It works for me smile.gif

like matt said try out any lessons that interest you smile.gif

Also go on to use the backing tracks of those lessons to jam/improvise over.

Good routine though- just make sure it doesnt get stale- try and keep it interesting smile.gif
