It was a really endless pain colab ...

Well, that's the end of this collab. I'm so sad because after 45 days working in this collab I only have 7 tracks (well, actually 6 and half)... and there was 15 persons that there were in !!! less than the half part sad.gif
I don't know what's the problem, the time is more than enough so I don't know if it's because the collab is too hard, too boring or just too bad...

It was specially difficult to mix because all collaborators had a different tune and I needed to change some pitches, because as you can remember the progression Em>Fm>Gbm>Gm>Abm etc. so as there was lot of people that didn't send me his part I needed to reorder tracks to make a logical progresion...

Well, let's go to the comments:

00:05 Cm - DeepRoots
00:40 Dbm - kaznie_NL
01:15 Dm - muntahunta
01:50 Ebm - leedbreak
02:25 Em - Gus
03:00 Fm - coffeeman
03:35 Gbm - superize

COMMENTS:

00:05 Cm - DeepRoots:
Well done my friend !!! really interesting first part with good melodic and rythmic ideas, in perfect harmony with the backing track. The second part is more rocker, and also pretty good. I see some pentatonic ideas her. Ah, and I love the harmonic that you play in this part wink.gif

00:40 Dbm - kaznie_NL:
well, I must say that you need to practice hard !!! work on the rhythic ideas and try to play as relaxed as you can. Then
learn the basic patterns and try to feel confortable with them, and don't be afraid to do long notes !! wink.gif

01:15 Dm - muntahunta
Another great idea for the first time. It's the most difficult 'cos there are some rhytmic patterns in the backing track and we need to keep them in mind if we want to nail it wink.gif
Second part is missing sad.gif
I thought in recorded my take here but I prefer not doing this...

01:50 Ebm - leedbreak:
yeah mate, I love your part, it's really interesting, just say be carefull with your picking. There are some wrong notes but in general is an excellent take smile.gif

02:25 Em - Gus:
I can see a great work here with great licks, be carefull with the note after the pinch harmonic, hehe, but don't worry you did a good take wink.gif

03:00 Fm - coffeeman:
excellent, great ruthmic ideas in the first part and in the second part excelent melodies !! I love specially the 4 compass and the last 2 notes, really well chosen my friend !!

03:35 Gbm - superize:
hey mate, thanks for this good take, I don't like too much the first part but the second one is really good wink.gif
great melody and well done

Well that's all, see you guys wink.gif

Well, was it that bad? I just play for five months or so. Thanks for doing this, to bad it had to go like this.

EDIT: I heard it back and yes it sucked tongue.gif I was badly phrasing, and it's not even a bit in the rhythm. I think this is a mixing mistake (possible?) sorry!

Don't worry kaznie it will eventually be the case that you blow everybody away with great guitar skills in a few years. I've noticed an improvment in your playing. I think all you need to do is keep practicing to a metronome and studying more theory and really improve your vibrato and just make sure you get everything smoother. In some collabs you come up with nice melody ideas. You just need to improve on playing more smoothly and with holding notes at times.

Your heading in the right direction but learning the guitar takes time. Keep up the good work of practicing and you'll be really happy with results in a year or two. Also try and join a band round your area as there is no quicker way of learning than jamming with a band smile.gif

Good luck biggrin.gif

Hi OC, thanks for the speech tongue.gif . I still have some problems with the phrasing and smoothness, but I think I have the pentatonic scale done, just need to use the others some more (not just position 1 and 2... tongue.gif ) . It's true that some collabs I have some prety cool stuff, and some suck. I'm also busy writing licks instead of just improvising on and on, giving pieces that are very unexiting. Could someone take a look on the rhythm, I think it's better in my upload then in the final collab? Thanks OC, I just need to keep practicing, thank you!

Well done everyone- there were some tough rhythmic ideas going on here and it was definitely not the easiest backing track to solo over ! (especially that first 'verse' section).

Thanks for the comments Juan, and well done for changing the keys so that it sounded like we had a complete collab, you did an awesome job!

Juan,

Excellent collab man , thanks for an awesome backing track , for the mixing and for the comments.

I think this should be mention in another thread , something like collab rules or something. Juan is one of our instructors he took the time to put together an awesome backing track , and I think it is total disrepect with with from those who said that were going to participate and never uploaded their takes or didn't say anything to Juan.

Thanks again Juan awesome backint track , maybe your next collab can be a tapping collab.

And great takes everyone.

It's just about soloing and using the rhythm that is in place. So try using licks that follow the the guitar closely and then you can do bits and pieces around that. It's just a case of practicing but you will get there. Just get some backing tracks off the internet and keep practicing over them and recoring pieces until you are happy with them and then analyse the theory behind what you have done and why you like it. Find out the difference between when you do a good collab and when in your opinion you do one that sucks. If you find this difference then you'll keep improving and improving. I haven't heard your take in this but I will give it a listen when I get home. Practice really hard sustain and vibrato and note lengths and just keep practicing to backing tracks. You will reach the top smile.gif

I'm sorry that I couldn't post my take, but there is a simple reason for it : I can't record stuff, I thought I could by using a voice recorder on a digital camare but that *&!*^*$ sound dry.gif sad.gif It was not because I didn't like this collab, the backing is great and is use it very much for improvising smile.gif

But anyways the collab did the turn out great !

Mark.

Ps : Is it possible to make a video collab, cause then I would be able to join ohmy.gif

Hey, man. I am sorry. I really think the problem with the forum had to do with the problem in the collab. The collab itself was really great idea and the backing track was awesome. I noticed, for instance that the downloads for each of the posted parts were much less than usual. I think it is likely that people had no access to the forum simply lost thier interest.

But anyway, good job who did it.

In my case, I recorded and I thought... S..t , did I really let that open string ring after the pinch??? That can go unseen in a mix for untrained ears, but I was sure you would comment it , Juan tongue.gif

Kaznie, don't worry about your playing. Just keep practicing. In your age I could not do what you do and guess what? I was playing for much longer than 5 months. But there is one thing you should really work on it. It is about your tone. A cheap guitar and amp. Cheap recording equipment. None of that is excuse for a bad tone. I can remember blaming my cheap Zoom 505, and then I took it to my guitar teacher. And wow. He extracted such a beautiful sound of it!!! blink.gif
You can play Sweet Child O Mine to thousands of people without going into the solo, and make them all crazy about you. You just have to sound right! wink.gif I am telling that because I saw it happening...

Thanks! I do have some problems with tone, I find it prety hard to get the right tone... Indeed it's not the equipment, it's the man behind it tongue.gif . BTW, this was just a bad take, check the Vimto collab, I did better there!

haha, yeah, I listen it biggrin.gif but don't worry... it's not an important mistake, and it's just a collab. BTW in my Album I keep lot of mistakes because I think that it's important to get the feeling in an improvised solo. Well I use to divide solos in few parts and then improvise small parts or do others freely (for instance lick A, scale up, arpegio, scale down ...)
