I come to humbly ask a few questions of the great Leopardi.

First, and most important, is how did you get so good? I might ask some other instructors too, but you get first because it is, after all, mostly your lessons that I'm practicing right now. I'm looking for some good ones from other instructors too. Anyways, I look through guitar book after guitar book, magazine after magazine, interview after interview, and almost all my guitar heros were self tought. How did you practice when you started out, or at least when you started getting good? I am willing to shred my fingers off 5 hours a day, but I want to make sure Im doing it right. biggrin.gif Does playing something over and over really help my overall guitar playing? because I don't seem to be improving much with my current practice schedule- or am I? huh.gif

Second, least important, and last, what gear do you use? In all of the guitar video lessons I have seen I get the instructor, the guitar, and then a wall. I see that wonderful lp studio, but what amps, fx, etc are you using off to the side of the camera?

Thank you for your help, and all the great video lessons!

Gear:
Homemade strat (You still need to look at its topic!)
Squier strat (probably going to get rid of it and get another guitar instead) :)
Line 6 spider amp (not actually used for anything, just acts as a speaker)
Digitech Gnx2 (kind of old, but cheap, and sounds amazing!)

Hi! Well... There isn't only one way to become a good guitar player. In my experience I can say that learning a lot of songs, studying from guitar clinics (like the GMC lessons, for ecxample) and guitar books has been very important. But it's also helpfull if you find a great music/guitar teacher that helps you to improve and that and make suggestions based in his experience. If you combine a good teacher with a lot of study by your own, you will became an excelent player. The secret is to practice many time every day different techniques, learn new scales and chords, and learn songs of different styles. Try to learn every book and clinic completely and you will hear the results. Listen to a lot of music and styles to get inspiration.

About my gear... in my GMC lessons I use my gibson les paul studio conected to a Pod xe live and record it by line in Nuendo software. It's very simple.

Cheers and keep on practicing!

Gabriel.-
