As long as you really like a band, and someone insults them, it always seems like there insulting you, the trick is, to know when they are or arent.

Best thing to do is...Stop caring, i hear so many people say bad things about Maiden, i just forget it in a few seconds and put it behind me smile.gif

very well said dude, specially the Army part. Metallica has done so much, that like shredmandan said, saying something about them is like insulting a fan in his face. Its good each one stated their opinions and thats how it should be. Also its good that both opinions weren't made to harm or offend each other.

Thanks FretDancer69
You know how us Metallica and Megadeth fans are.

Come on guys why is this thread evening happening. You cant argue whos opinion is more right.

Persionally I think both bands are lame. But thats my opinion and im not going to convince anyone of anything by saying that.

I thought I had left this kind of thing behind when I stopped visiting free game forums full of MMO fanboys sad.gif

laugh.gif Fortunately we don't get too many of these, but they always stir up controversy. This one stepped over the line then pulled back, others spiral out of control ...

My only problem with metallica is the fact that they are such generic metal.. like soo generic that when people hear the world metal those are the riffs they think about. I think Metallica is more of a gateway band into metal.. for example if you like Metallica you'll like Meliah Rage. They are almost exactly the same just a bit different vocals and less generic. IMO

I'd rather listen to somebody scraping a rock down a cheese grater than listen to Metallica right now.

Iron Maiden on the other hand are pretty good. Lots of rubbish songs but lots of classics also.

Well Maiden get my vote- because they can still make good songs.

Metallica....kind of lost that ability.....many many many years ago.

And as it's been said numerous times;
The NWOBHM greatly influenced Metallica, such acts as DiamondHead, Iron Maiden,
Angel Witch, Samson, Saxon can be considered NWOBHM.

And yeah, I think Maiden have actually written them a riff or two biggrin.gif

Wollace03 for President laugh.gif

Hehe, I like both bands (well, not the latest Metallica albums but most of the earlier ones..)
I just happen to like Maiden a lot more smile.gif

I guess Maiden have "borrowed" their fair share of riffs as well and it doesn't bother me at all as this is common practice smile.gif

But the threadstarter left me no choice but to reply with that first post biggrin.gif

How is it possible to even dig up such an old thread and make it the most popular topic of the day?
It's over a year old subject and still smoking hot laugh.gif
