that's awesome. That song is still flaming from the 70s. That's always one of the first song people learn even if you've never played guitar. It was the first one I learned and I thought it was awesome for my first time playing a guitar and not just hitting the strings biggrin.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif but now I'm more advanced than "Smoke on the Water," but I'll always every now and then play it. COOL VIDEO cool.gif wink.gif thanks for sharing

I'm still missing notes here and there but this was/is my first song too. I think one of the coolest things I've learned about the guitar is that even the simplest notes can make enjoyable music.

That's also the first thing I ever learned on the guitar.
I played the riff to it over and over again.
Everyone in my house hated that song after that tongue.gif

Yea I thought I was amazing when I learned how to play it but now I can do it without looking and just picking up the guitar. My uncle heard it onece and played the whole first riff. SOTW was in the top 10 rock riffs of all time.

That good ol' beat

Silly me. I'm suffering with Back in Black. Didn't think I needed a 5 fret reach. Bah.

Well, I'm just starting and not practing as much as I should.

I can get through the notes. It's that run that ends up with me reaching from the 2nd fret to the 7th...

----------------------
----------------------
----------------------
----------------------
--2---2---2---2------
----4---5---6---7\---

I know on freelicks, Kris does it all on the E string in the opposite direction and the stretch is shorter and the notes are the same there but from what I can tell, the tab above is more correct and I'm taking it as a stretching exercise...or an exercise on moving my hand around and getting it to end up on the right frets.

Sounds like crap still but I'm working on it. biggrin.gif
