Just a little story about practice.

I've had the first week that I've been able to practice (heavily) since January. Work and other commitments have stopped me from being able to pour a lot of time into guitar. So I chose a few of the new lessons, from Pavel, David and Gabriel to have a go at (sorry Kris!! ), as an extra boost to my alt picking (which was always weak) and finger control. I've got to say that it's made a huge difference. In a week I've managed to crack a glass ceiling, and am finding that I can play a lot of the new material at speed, which is always a great confidence boost

I know I've been playing for years (Almost 19 years to be correct). But I've only been seriously working on technique for the past few, and both Freelicks and GMC has helped greatly. I've known Kris since the first month of the original site, and I've got to say what he's done here is a little gem in the corner of the internet, with providing high quality material. And the new instructors prove invaluable, in their ability to approach similar material with different points of view.

I can only say that if you are in your teens and accessing this site, use this oppportunity to your advantage. Believe me, if I had access to guitar tutors or like this when I was starting guitar, it would have shaved 10 years off of my learning curve. If you are my age or older and using this site to get up to scratch, be safe in the knowledge that it's not going to take a lifetime!!

I wanted a theory board, because I felt it was important to develop theory as well as technique, as it makes everyone a more useful musician, and it's often overlooked in the pursuit of shred! To be fair though, you've done wonders, making it a great resource for GMCers.

I just wanted to kinda add my two cents...I recently joined GMC and I gotta say that this website is a lifesaver!!!!! I was just getting overly bored with the guitar and this community totally revived the shredder within!!!! THANKS GMC!!!!!!!!

Well all, I have to put in MY two canuck cents here too. I think that Kris and the rest of the team that bring us GMC should be given a HUGE thanks. I checked out other online learning sites and was nowhere as impressed or motivated as I was when I came across GMC. What I have learned in the last 7 days kicks butt over what I learned in the last 6 months!

Speaking from the point of view of a professional computer geek who deals with websites, computers and various providers of related services, running a serious website is hard work. Anyone who says it isn't work is either very naive, or a bold faced liar.

Running a site as well put together and effective as GMC is even harder. Dealing with server issues, website hosts, and Internet Providers, not to forget payment gateways, video streaming requirements, and database and site back ups... that's a boatload of work. Add to that the costs associated with running a site of this magnitude.... it probably isn't as cheap as many might think or have been led to believe.

Anyway, I digress. Once all that technical jumble is taken care of Lessons can be recorded and posted, write ups can be checked and made live, backing tracks and other support materials can be added... need I continue? Adding 2 new lessons is likely an all day task....not counting the time it takes to actually create the lesson to begin with...

Sooo from me here in Canada to Kris and all who bring us GMC I say this..., Fantastic work! **STANDS AND APPLAUDS**

P.S. Yea I know.. maybe I'm too intense...or maybe nuts...or both... but in any event, I believe GMC to be the best site online for my learning needs and I want Kris and his team to know they are appreciated from both a musical and technical point of view.

Guys - I am overwhemlemed! As a response I'd like to thank our fantastic users/students who make gmc such a nice and relaxed place - I must say I can't think of a guitar community with better vibes than this one... Also, our dedicated teachers are a great factor in this success!

I too have been very naive about what running this kind of website means - I have learned the hard way - which isn't always a bad thing... Still I'd like to say there are so many plans for gmc future - the wait is driving me crazy though!

I understand what you mean about the site issues I am a mod/super mod on a lot of sites and I work on creating sites in school, I am currently working on our school's business site and it is tons of work and a pain. The only thing nice about this forum is no "Spam" well "Spam Advertising" because you have to pay to sign up on this site. All in all, I apaulde you kris for you incredible work too and your staff. I have learned so much, it was getting old just doing guitar tabs and blah blah and being impressed by my friend Adam not realizing how simple his licks were for his "Incredible solo's."

Yeah, iv'e only been a member for about 3 days now, and this was the first guitar site or any site for that matter, and allready I can see that it will help me alot, atleast while I am still in the army and don't have time for a 1on1 teacher.

I love the approach of all the lessons, by that I mean, that all of the exercises provided here are not only helpfull for technique but are very musical, if I or anyone learn some of the licks here and play them in a guitar shop, people around us would probably go "Woah, I wanna play like that too".

So I'll just say it again, thanks Kris, Pavel, and the rest of the staff here
