Don't worry these periods are normal. You should commit more time to music, listen to it, start practicing and playing the guitar again bit by bit, and listen to the great guitar legends that inspire you. This should help. smile.gif

How about you take some time and think what did you like about the most? Whats your favorite songs and solos?
Listen to the music that inspires you and gets you going.
I have a list of songs and solos (so to say) that have emotional meaning to me. Every time I hear them I immediately get the motivation to pick up guitar and improve my playing.
Hope that makes sense:)

Before I can answer that, I need to know what is making you tired of the guitar. What goals you want to accomplish, but seem not to be able to.

Go see a band play at the local pub or restaurant. I think it's great inspiration to see what "normal" people can play and pick up some new stuff from there. To me that's more inspiring than to go see Petrucci in action, I could never manage his stuff anyway so Dream Theater is just for they joy of it, the local pub guy for inspiration. If he's any good that is wink.gif

well what is making me tired is that I try to learn songs but i usually never finish learning them. i know the pentatonic scale and i try to learn the major scale and the modes it seems to hard.

It just takes time mate, don't worry. I rarely learned any song in a whole when starting. This stuff doesn't matter really, just keep on practicing and playing - that is the key. Don't think that you are not "made for it" or anything if you didn't learn any song or it is difficult to learn the modes. Learning the modes is a big obstacle, you can't tackle it in a month. Just go slowly one by one, do one per month, and take it easy.

There must have been a solo or a band or your favorite songs that inspired you first to practice. You should listen to your favorite music again, kinda "re-feel" the joy that you experienced earlier when listening to these music.

Oh, and don't give up practicing those songs you like. try to practice more at once and play along with the original record.

xbox can give you an instant pleasure but being skilled on such an instrument as the guitar and writing your music is a 10000000 x greater fun biggrin.gif

so do not give up!!
