I hope its not your guitar man !

Try going directly to your sound card with guitar cable + converter jack. If you get sound in your DAW then its amp, if not guitar trouble

plug something else into the amps input.

Ipod, etc... just keep the vol WAY LOW!

That will test the amp.

Open the cover to the back of the epiphone. See if the vol or tone pot turned and is hitting the side of the cavity.

Mine did that whenI had it. (epi LP) the cavity was lined with some material that was conductive. SO it shorted out when it touched the side.

Pull the knob off, loosen the nut and twist it back away from the wall. Then tighten it back down.

Alright I will try that, I know that the volume thing has come loose in the back for sure... not sure what you would call it.

Can you post 2 pictures of your Amp - front and back ?

Perhaps that would give some ideas regarding switches it has etc

I ve determined the amp cant be the problem using the tests you guys have suggested and I tested my neighbours electric real quick and it worked fine :S

And maybe you could post a close up photo of the cavity of the guitar with the cables, back of knobs etc. And also, if it's a LP then one photo of the pickup-selector cavity! Maybe it's visible that the soldering is somehow damaged or there is short circuit etc.

So it must be your electronics inside guitar. Some wire is loose from pickups probably. That should take half an hour or less to fix but I suggest you take it to guitar repair guy don't do anything yourself

The guitar electronics should be quite easy to fix. It's probably just a soldering joint that broke off or something. If you can't see it you should check it with a multimeter. The electronics inside of a guitar are normally very simple so it should be easy for you or some friend with soldering skills and a multimeter to fix it. And as long as you don't overheat one of the pots or resistors you can't do much damage. Good luck!

Stupid question, you don't use active pickups in that guitar, do you? In that case it might just be the batterie. If not, I also think it is something about the electrics in your guitar, might be a pot, might just be a cable or a short circuit, you should really find somebody to check it, it should not really be expensive to fix this.
