Would love to see your progress on the PG lesson. That way I'll be able to point out any areas we can try to improve. I'm aware that legato lesson might be a bit challenging so if you have major problems with it do let me know, we don't want to fustrate those fingers!

The AC/DC song might be a better bet, and its really GOOD at developing some finger speed.

Hey Adam been back on the Guitar for a few days now, finally! got over that virus, here's my progress on the pg lesson. I'm also gonna post Muris's Steve Lukather Lesson later also, as i noticed you were doing it 2 and now I have FR again i can start practising that lesson again

The PG lesson really is a killer isn't it I just took a look and it is insanely good, and equally tricky! Although I personally think it's good practice at any level.

A couple of points regarding how you could practice this lesson...

I'd recommend taking one lick at a time, one of the runs that you really like, and learn it the slowest backing track speed (which is 70bpm) and then practice it over the backing, or even maybe a metronome.

Don't be too strict though, enjoy it, thats the most important thing

One point about your picking hand. I notice you play with your pinky as the anchor point for the left hand? I used to play this way as it did kinda feel natural and easier, but I'd also recommend trying a new way before that one sinks in too much.

Muris corrected my picking hand position so I can pass on the same advice.

He recommends using a closed fist, and resting it on the bridge of the guitar. When moving when picking he also said that you should NOT roll your fist to hit the strings, but instead move your wrist slightly up and down.

This sounds a bit complicated in text form so it might be better for me to make a vid response if you want?

Ok here's my take on the Lukether lesson I did do this lesson last year but struggled to do a few parts, gonna work on it some more made errors while recording.

Your technique really isn't bad at all bondy, you have strong accents of notes and manage pull off's, hammer on's, bends and legato lines nicely but I think the biggest problem area for you is timing.

This was true in my case too, but its easy to rectify with some practice.

I would like to recommend we halt work on existing lessons, and on the lukather lesson and focus on another new lesson that I think will be of great benefit to you, as it was to me.

Now the focus here is really about hearing the note duration differences, and getting used to switching between them. I'm not expecting you to learn the 32nd notes part, or the 16th triplets, but if you feel comfortable with either of them by all means give them a go. BUT don't spend too much time practicing them to get them down.

I want you to spend your time making sure that your playing is in time with the backing track and in the correct note duration. You can loop the beginning video to what you want to play, and play along with Muris if you find it easier this way. Just move the little white triangles off the start and finish bars and it will loop the selected area.

I really think a little bit of time spent on this area will do wonders for your playing mate

Hey Adam sorry I was a bit slow on this one, been very buys this week, and i'm taking the business while I can .
I have started the lesson, it's great just what I needed. this is where I think my problems lie with the metronome, because I never really understood how may notes i'm supposed to play per beat ie 1/4 & 8th notes 16th note triplets i just get just in the noise of the metronome and cant count, so When i'm working on a solo how do I know how many notes i should play per beat?

Good work on the timing lesson! Are you finding it easier to differentiate between the different note durations?

If you wouldn't mind keeping this lesson as a warm-up exercise for a week or so, before playing any of the lessons you're interested in

In regards to your previous question, about knowing how many notes to play in the beat.. Do you mean when improvising or when learning a solo?

If you mean when learning a solo or a lesson here, the more familiar you get with the different note durations, the easier it will become to "hear" the note durations in relation to the tempo. Otherwise you could look at the GuitarPro file and see what note durations are used during the piece.

I prefer to hear what it sounds like by my ear, and then reproduce it, I tend not to think too much about what note durations I'm playing but more how it fits and feels at what ever tempo I'm playing.

It is very good to know what you're playing however and what different note durations sound like at different tempo's so you can get an idea of when to use them.

I'm trying to learn a bit more on the timing lesson each day as a warm up, in conjunction with piotr's move your little finger workout, which i'm loving by the way between the two lessons they seam to be getting me there on timing and using my pinky more. I will post progress on that one too as I move along.

By the way, I've just posted my advice on learning new scales in Hammerheads thread. I've recently used this technique and can recommend it fully as it gives you a very good insight to what scales "sound" like in relation to their route note

Here's my progress on the Move your little finger lesson it's only at 60bpm but it's coming along, a few mistakes but to be honest every time I record it I make at least one mistake but in different areas this is the best one so far will keep plugging away at it though. I think i'm starting to improve what do you think???

Nice work man! I think its obvious that you've made improvements over the past weeks, especially in regards to timing. Your picking is certainly more natural, much smoother looking right hand. Can you tell a difference?

I know what you mean with having occasional errors each take you make, but not always at the same section. I have this problem! I think its just when you're not quite used to the whole piece yet.

I'm working on Emir's vinnie moore lesson and its happening a lot to me! Very frustrating.
