I'm assuming this is the correct spot for this topic......

RATM their self titled debut album can only be described in two words IMHO....Pure Genius!

Songs like "Killing in the Name", "Bullet in the Head", "Wake Up" and " Know your Enemy" are so amazing and Morello just shines on this album. His signature sound is what put this group on the map in my opinion even though with this album he was a bit more traditional rock with some of his solos he still had some amazing effects coming from his guitar. (I found in later albums he had a bit more DJ influence than on this one) Their lyrics are politically motivated without being preachy due to the flawless delivery of De La Rocha, they are definatly a band with something to say. Anyone who has been living under a rock and has not heard this album should run out and get it. One of the best to come out of the 90's and for me one of the best ever.

What a great album, i always thought the Album was called bombtrack.. perhaps i was wrong, still, it was the best, seconded by battle of los angelous smile.gif no one can recreate Zach and thats why no one ever will. Long Live Revolution through music.

Aaron I think your the luckiest guy on this site...you'll get to see them play twice this year. You so have to post after Rock the Bells and tell me every dirty detail...If ya get a good pic of Morello send it to me man. I would love to see RATM in concert. If the devil is out there...I'm willing to talk laugh.gif

@VinceG - I didn't forget Freedom...how could you forget Freedom...awesome song. I really should have just listed all of them because they all rock so here it goes:

1. Bombtrack
2. Killing in the Name *
3. Take the Power Back
4. Settle for Nothing
5. Bullet in the Head
6. Know Your enemy
7. Wake Up
8. Fistful of Steel
9. Township Rebellion
10. Freedom

* my personal fave on the album

+1 rokchik

RATM is a tremendous album. "Know Your Enemy" and "Take the Power Back" are personal favourites, but there's no song on this album that is anything less than brilliant. de la Rocha weighs in with some clever and controversial lyrics and Morello coaxes some bizarre sounds from his guitar. The material from RATM also stands up well live, as the later LA Olympic Stadium recording demonstrates.
