Hey there,

I've come up with some aeolian licks that you can play to build up speed, accuracy, strength and stamina, or integrate in your own compositions. I tried to make them as original as possible... I wrote them in A Aeolian (minor), just to keep the numbers mono-digited ; you may transpose it to the 12th fret E Aeolian if you wish to sound more like bands such as Iron Maiden ! smile.gif

You may play these licks with a metronome, but make sure you can play it several times to perfection before increasing speed (I suggest you increase the speed in intervals of 2 or 5 bpm).

Lick 1 : Position 1

|---------------------------------|
|-------5-6-5---5-6-8-6-5---5-----|
|-4-5-7-------7-----------7---7-5-|
|---------------------------------|
|---------------------------------|
|---------------------------------|

Lick 2 : Position 1

|------------------------------------|
|------------------------------------|
|------------------------------------|
|------------------------------------|
|-------5-----5-7-----5-7-8-7-5------|
|-5-7-8---7-8-----8--------------8-7-|

Lick 3 : Position 1 (Solo intro, first bar is before the solo actually starts, high speed ~200 bpm)

|-----------------|-----------------|-5---------5--7--|-7b8---------7--5--|-----------------|
|-------5h6p5---5-|-8b10~-----------|-8b10~-----------|-------------------|-8~--------------|
|-4h5h7-------7---|-----------------|-----------------|-------------------|-----------------|
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-------------------|-----------------|
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-------------------|-----------------|
|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-------------------|-----------------|

KEY :
b = Bend
~ = Vibrato (wide is best, although it's up to you)
h = hammer-on
p = pull-off

Anybody who uses GuitarPro may download this file in case you're having trouble with the written ones.

NOTE : This topic will be updated once in a while, so be sure to come back for more licks ! biggrin.gif I suggest subscribing to this topic if you are between levels 3-5 and need some new licks to add to your metal-soloing vocabulary ! smile.gif The more subscriptions I receive, the more active I'll probably be ! biggrin.gif

Awesome suggestion Bogdan.

There are some nice neoclassic licks here. If the first one was in E minor it would sound like a real iron maiden breakdown... played fast I mean rolleyes.gif

Cool lick, I would also suggest to practice them in various positions to build right hand flexibility.

Nice licks Alexander. You should definitely do a student instructor lesson and do couple of those types of licks in it !

Thanks, berko ! It was actually originally in E minor, but I decided to move it down to A just to make the hands stretch a bit more. I also found the second lick was a bit annoying to play at the 12th fret, so here's the reason... smile.gif

Thanks, Vasilije !

I'm only 15, so I'm not sure I am good enough a guitar player to start teaching others, unless they haven't touched the guitar ! biggrin.gif I'll look into it though, and thank you for your support ! biggrin.gif
