Hey guys, I'm going to France for 12 days or so on sunday. Woul dit be wise to take my acoustic with me in the caravan, playing outside in the sun? Or is that really bad for the wood? My dad always says it's very bad, just wanted your opnion! thnx I always take acoustic guitar wherever I go and never had problems. Enjoy your trip -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Just don't leave it alone exposed to direct sun light, specially when you are not playing. It would heat a lot and might damage the wood.
As for playing in the sun, I'd rather play under the shadow of a big nice tree -------------------- Guitars:

Your dad is right, the sun makes wood dry and twist so don't leave it outside exposed to weater and wind. The causal playing isn't a problem
Maybe your dad said it because he wants 12 days of piece and quiet -------------------- My bands homepage

Well you can play it in the Sun, but who would play a guitar in the heat? Find a nice shade and knock yourself out. Definitely don't leave the guitar stay in the sun or hot areas (like car in the sun) for longer periods. These areas can increase in temperature very fast, in direct sunlight in a car it can get hot like in an oven in 15 mins and less.

Haha, if acoustic guitars couldn't take sunlight while playing, countless concerts would never have happened! As others have said, just don't leave it standing out in the sun.
