Hello!

I was wondering what file format you guys use to upload your videos/lessons here?
I've used .AVI and each file is about 150Mb - 200Mb large, so it takes forever to upload a whole lesson.

Anyone got some tips for me? smile.gif

It's not about the format but about the CODEC settings you use to compress the video. Here are my settings:

Resolution: Multimedia 320x240
Frame rate: 25,000 PAL
Field order: None(Progressive Scan)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0926
Codec: Xvid
Motion Blur Type: Gaussian
Deinterlace method: Interpolated Fields

AND very important thing to do is to add SHARPEN effect on every video before rendering/compressing.

It took me ages to figure out these settings!! I hope they will help you!
And btw. the file format is AVI.

Hey guys!

Could you please tell me what resolution do you use for your videos because we noticed that my videos don't fit the whole flash player screen but have black spaces on the left and right side. While all the other instructor's videos fill the whole player screen. So what are your settings?

Thanks

Hmm ,this is odd Pavel.
I use 320 x 240 too.
Maybe to set the same resolution in project settings?
That's only preview of course, but who knows...

This is really helpful guys-Thanks!

Can i ask how you record sound?

I get great tone from my amp, but when camcorder films it it sounds like a bee in a tin laugh.gif

I thus use a PODxt which is great for what it does, but not my ideal tone.

Any ideas?

I do have an sm57 rigged to Logic, so i was thinking of recoding the audio there, and splicing together.

Ok i found the problem! I already told Kris i will have to change file format but looks like i won't have to!

The problem is not in file format but in PIXEL ASPECT RATIO. By setting it to 1,0250 and set "Stretch video to fill the output frame" i managed to solve it so i will do it like that for my next lesson!

Not sure about everyone else but I think Kris records his audio separately and splices - when I get around to making some videos that's the first thing I will try as well. Then the video (at least of the main part) is just miming to the backing track, but you get great sound. I don't think you can do that with the slow videos though.

Hey Ben

I'm recording my guitar straight on HD,camera is only recording video.
Than I make audio mix of lead guitar and backing track as mp3,
put together video and mp3,do small edit like cuts, fades and that's it.

Hey Andrew, Hello Muris (Great playing btw),

Thats really helpful. See at the moment i record video and guitar straight from the camcorder, and i have to use a tone i would normally never use just to make up for the balance on the camcorder!

So basically what your saying is to record onto you sequencer (logic express in my case), and record just video at the same time, and splice them together afterwards?

Thanks,

-Ben

Hello Everyone!

Glad to have found this hidden board biggrin.gif JESUS HOW I LOVE THIS SITE:D

ok, thanks to my m8 Pavel I used that settings he just mentioned, too.

@Ben , do you have that Pod already? the new Line6 products to me finally are cool again. I used a lot of them, but for my use, the V-amp pro was the best solution. It has a lot of bugs, like the mute button cracks n stuff, but the thing only cost me 80€ so I thought its cool...

Is there any other macusers here? I just got into video editing, also with vegas, but as soon as it goes I´d love to switch to avid or finalcut , so that I don´t have to switch between xp and osx so often...it just costs time...i hate that biggrin.gif

Again thanks for the warm welcome here smile.gif I am very happy to be a part of this, really!

Luv,
Kai

Hi Kai, Hello everyone,

@Kai-Yep i have a Podxt. For what its worth, i think its fantastic. Id pick TUBE over it anyday, however for processed sound and versatility, i think the Podxt is quality.

the fact you can download tones to it aswell makes it easily worth the price. They seem to use it on the Guitar mags (guitar techniques etc) for recordings too, and their recordings always sound great.

However, if i have the option i would always record tube, as in my opinion the pod cant really get close to a warm tube sound, and it definately doesn't have the 'feel' smile.gif

Just my 2 cents (or pounds).

-Ben
