Hi GMC,

Another REC announcement here updating you on the changes that will be taking place. We feel and hope you will find these changes for the better. smile.gif

First off, we would like you to keep doing as you are with uploads and detailing you equipment but we would also like you to create a poll with numbers 1-10. No need for anything other than numbers.

This poll is going to be used by the Instructors for grading and scoring purposes. No longer will they be looking for only 4 or 5 areas of your playing, just an overall impression of how well you captured the lesson. (1 being not even close to 10 being spot on)

Once you have opened your topic, with a poll, I will then move the thread to a top secret location within GMC where only Instructors will have access. As the Instructors grade the lessons (min 3) I will average them and move them back to the REC board where you will see your score and be able to read the comments. smile.gif

We think that by doing things this way, one certain area such as posture will not hurt a well played attempt and by the same token, great tone does not influence a poorly played attempt.

I hope all of you will like this new process as we will keep tweaking it til its perfect!

For those that have lessons awaiting grades now, I will began moving them shortly and adding the poll so need to do anything with those.

Cheers,
Steve (skennington)

Sounds very good! Looking forward to see it in action biggrin.gif

Edit: I so miss/want to see a ladder system though, with points generated by difficulty of lesson x % of success. And points build on top of each other. That way you wont lose anything by doing a lower difficulty lesson (now you lose average difficulty). And you get this competition about being on the top of the ladder etc. smile.gif
All in due time I suppose.

thats actually great, when grading publicaly, few people will have the heart to give someone a fail or maybe comment badly on someones playing, but where would the word feedback go? i mean thats the most important thing no?

Interesting. It seems like more administrative overhead. Does this mean, that submissions to the REC program will have more detailed comments/feedback, with less specific grading criteria?

What if my polls go to eleven? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Just kidding of course. smile.gif
I'm not 100% sure I see the benefit of moving the submittals to another location for grading unless it's to keep members from voting? With a scale of 1-10, what constitutes a passing grade? Also, I like the ratings system you've got now, the harder lessons are much more difficult to pull off and it's very cool to strive for new levels to me. If I can get five level 6s up there, it means a lot more than even say doing 20 level 3s (for example).

Just my 2c.

Not quit sure I understand the part about creating a poll. Does this mean that we create our own poll of things that we want to be graded on? I feel kinda silly asking this question but I read your post twice and I still am not sure what you mean when it comes to the poll.... huh.gif

The idea Jim is to open up the grading for the Instructors on an individual basis. By using a poll, each of them will be giving there objective opinion without the influence of knowing what the previous Instructor voted.

The passing average will still be 75% or now, 7.5

Example:

Instructor 1 (5)
Instructor 2 (7)
Instructor 3 (6)
Instructor 4 (10)
Instructor 5 (3)

Average 6.2 (This would be a failing grade)

Of course, the grades should not be that far apart but just to give you an idea. smile.gif

Hey man, just create a poll with the title and content being "Grade/Score" and the title of your upload

Just add a 1-10 for the "Multiple Choice Questions"

It sure sounds like a great improvement with more objective evaluation by the instructors. Each has a unique perspective that can be given more free rein when not aware of prior evaluations. More weight can be given to whatever category they deem appropriate for the particular submission under question. It can only mean more valuable comments and feedback for the student.

Well done all involved! smile.gif

You won't after you reach 5 passed submissions. We only average your 5 highest grades. So for example, if you have 5 level 8's and wanted to do a level 1, that level 1 would not hurt you at all and will add to your "experience Level" on the scoreboard. smile.gif

As long as we have good feedbacks that will replace the detailed ratings, I'll be happy. smile.gif

Well it either means that you are insanely good, or a cheater... ph34r.gif

No seriously - we have discussed these REC changes for a while, and we believe this new way of grading will make the grades at REC more fair - also we want to make sure we keep a high standard. So that REC submissions that pass, really are good.

You can expect us to gradually make these kind of changes to all GMC programs - the idea is to learn from experience and constantly try to improve our features... Thanks for your patience with us!

Hello,

I´ve seen than all the submits since 20th september have been deleted. Do we all people who have submit a lesson do it again?

How do I create a poll?

Thank you.

Nothing is deleted - the threads have just been moved to the secret board, they will be moved back to the open board once graded.

Thanks for asking though - we should definitely make this clear so that people don't think we delete anything! smile.gif

When you add a reply do this. Above the text and items menu there's a selection; Click hete to manage poll

Click it and enter a title, the name of the lesson is suitable

Click - Add Poll question - and enter title, the name of the lesson is suitable

Click - Add Poll choice - and enter the grades. This means you have to repeat this for grades 1 through 10.
One by one, enter '1', then Add Poll Choice and enter '2' and so forth

Then you're ready to go, and remember to post your video and text before you sumbit your REC post.

Actually, you don't lose anything as it is now by doing a lower difficulty lesson, as only the 5 highest graded lessons count towards your Level Title.

Plus the Exp. Title always gets better the more lessons you pass.

Of course if you are below 5 lessons passed it all affects, but that's because the system is meant to reflect your skill once you have uploaded a few lessons, the more the better.

So, once you've uploaded 5 lessons, all you upload will always increase your scores/titles, but never drag you down smile.gif

Here's the ladder:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/wiki/inde...REC_Score_Board

Hope that helps/clarifies your doubts smile.gif
