Hi ChrnoAM
Finally we have it all set and ready to go I hope we will both have some good experience with this. The first thing I would like to know is what you would like to learn and we can take it from there. Please write down your current playing abilities, post some recordings or a video (if you have) and specify which area you would like to focus on. That can be anything from theory, technique, some of my lessons - just whatever you want. I am looking forward to this and I hope that you will learn many useful things throughout this program. All the best Emir -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Hi Emir,
My name is Amol, nice to meet you! Okay here is where I am at right now: I have been playing guitar for about six years now. In terms of Theory, I know just the basics: Major Scale, Minor Scale, Penatonic, Diatonic Chord Theory, Open Chords, Barre Chords, The CAGED barre system, basic tensions, Finding a key of a song, improvising in the key (I can follow chord tones weakly, I have trouble catching each chord). In terms of technique, I have a pretty good handle on: Alternative Picking Sweep Picking Basic Finger Picking Bending, Hammer/Pull Offs, Sliding, Vibrato Music wise I am working on, but still quite weak on: Ear Training (Linear, and Chords), Relative Pitch, and Perfect Pitch What I Want to Achieve Is: 1. Pick up chords by ear off tracks, and follow them with chord tone melodies 2. Play songs from beginning to end, so I can play live! 3. Blues Licks, Bending in Pitch, Vibrato-ing in time 4. How to compose a song, more than just an A Section lol! 5. More technical skills, to play more proficient music, (tapping, harmonics, 80's style haha) This is a recording I made before i joined GMC, and I had submitted for the first MTP: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...st&id=14029 These are some recordings of the lessons I did with Jeff during our time together in MTP: Lookin' forward to workin' with you! Hi
Very nice videos and nice playing. Your AP is quite good. Vibrato needs more work. I'll try to do a video explaining this so other can also learn from the same video as vibrato is the topic many people need 80's style tapping is not that difficult, I'll upload some exercises for you. About composing we can try to make some arrangements. I can leave you some drums and bass so you can compose rhythm guitar parts. Let's start with these things and we can move on later I am now working on some other material for other MTP participants but give me some time and the exercises should be here shortly. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Here I am back with some tapping exercises. I've done this long video to explain the technique but I was talking too much rubbish so I had to cut the video to fit on youtube
You also have 2 speed backing tracks and GP file. Take your time and record when you can, no rush.

This was very good. It could be controlled a bit better but you're doing really well. I've made a lesson from this backing, it's called Tapping in 16th triplets. We'll wait for it to be published and go for that one. It uses much more than just this little shape on the 1st string. Until then try to get this one better and maybe speed up. I will send some backin soon for you to compose solos as we said before. I'll give you instructions what I would like you to do. I am very busy these days with organizing a big concert for Muris' band but I'll try to make it for you soon.

Hi Emir! I hope things are going well for you. I have been working on the tapping lesson, and I have found a weak part of my playing that showed up during this lesson, and is actually something I always struggle with. Keeping a tight rhythm is very difficult for me. Would you be able to help me work on these things?: 1. Reading Rhythmic Notation 2. Keeping it tight with a metronome 3. Playing songs completely with correct rhythm I think this would really help me in the long run. Both on this lesson, and while learning songs from sheet music, which is a goal I definitely want to reach. To be able to read a song from notation and play the rhythm correctly and tightly! Hope to hear from you soon! Amol I can explain how to read notes but that requires some serious practicing. You need to sight read every single day if you want to master that. I used to hate it in my classical school In modern music (for example rock) tabs are easier to read. Notes are good for checking note durations and rhytmical patterns but all the other signs like bends, muting etc... are not really for notes. If you go over 12th fret notes are too much above the staff and very difficult to read. I will do some video lesson tomorrow for you and explain the concept. Rhythmic Notation is very useful so we'll focus on that instead of notating the melody. About keeping in tight with the metronome I will also show you the way I think would work. That one is not difficult just requires concentration. Playing songs completely with correct rhythm is to do with the previous one. If you get the rhythm right with the metronome then you shouldn't worry about the rhythm in songs. I'll post it very soon. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Ok now I am back and I will get to work on our things. I had extremely busy last 10 days. Sorry for being late.
According to the new MTP rules I need to give you assignment every week. You asked about the sight reading but I can't really mark that topic like that. We can work on it besides. We said earlier that I would like you to have a go on my new tapping lesson which is now published. You already did great with the initial pattern but shall we now go for the whole lesson? -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Okay thanks Emir, I am working on the tapping lesson in the meantime. Also please let me know what programs you use to make your backing tracks? I want to start making my own! =) I use Sonar. Any DAW can do the job but I am comfortable working in this one. It's very important to learn how to use some software and be able to produce your own backings. Thanks for the update -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

I am now going to check the assignment.
About the sound card, you have many cheap options that can do a great job. You can try some USB one like EMU 0404 USB or even some simple POD which can work as soundcard. ---------------- Edit: Just checked the tapping lesson and marked it Good work. Now, what are we going to do next? You said you would like to do some sight reading and rhytmic notation. While it is a great thing to learn along the way I can't think of a way to mark you on that in the assignment thread. We would need to work one to one in a live situation I have already started with some PDF document for you about sight reading but never finished as I had to go back home for a couple of weeks. Give me a couple of days and I will post it for download together with a video explaining it.
