Hello everybody, I'm happy to announce that I did my first sucessful video session today!
Since it was more of a test thing, I didn't announce it in advance, but the next one will be very soon and announced by me here as well. I will like to thank the members who participated today for patience as I learn as I go along, and hope they had as much as fun as I did. It was hard to speak in English and show everything, but well worth it! If anyone has feedback or any opinion about the chat, feel free to put it here so we know what to prepare for future sessions! Thanks a lot! -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

It was fantastic Ivan. We bombarded you with so many questions and you took them one by one giving each question equal amount of stress and explanation.. All participants (of most skill levels) were very impressed with the way it was conducted and the flow of it.
I'll think of the suggestions for future sessions later on and post .. But as of now .. im stocked ... you've just hooked a metalhead on to blues .. Well done !! -------------------- "If the need is deep, you WILL find a way , if it isn't, you'll find some excuse"

I haven't announced it cause I wanted to test the video chat initially, but it turns out I started answering questions and doing some licks and it kinda developed into full session.
I will do next session very soon, so stay tuned! -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

The only negative about these chats though is that there's no way to go back and track questions and answers etc.? Am I right in thinking you can't do that?

In text form no, I'm not sure if these chats are recorded tho. Kris should know about these questions. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

In text form no, I'm not sure if these chats are recorded tho. Kris should know about these questions. The old chat was logged, Maria even posted a log (of you and Bogdan and some other folks) once upon a time. If we use some kind of system to pose questions in addition to the existing request for bold, perhaps bold + Q: What's that crawing up your arm? + /bold then it could be queried or parsed from the log? That wouldn't contain any answers, but it would get you the questions I suppose. -------------------- ::jafomatic

Yeah, Jafo if right here. Questions can be tracked if they are marked with bold I suppose, but answers are given in spoken form. Perhaps there is a way to record these sessions, I'm not sure if there is any need for that tho for now, but for some future sessions when the material is prepared and it is in strict class form, it could be useful for later reviewing. This could be useful for members who didn't catch up with the video chat in the first place, so some forms of "episodes" can be later broadcasted on demand.
Well, perhaps these are just long term thoughts and ideas from me, just thinking out loud here -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Well, that was my exact point with the question I raised It's a very good question, some brainstorming cannot hurt, although I can only speak of this in theory for now, as I'm not expert for streams and do not know for sure how they work -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

I'm guessing if there is need and technical means to do it easily, then it shouldn't be a problem

I'd keep a real video camera running the whole session. Stream to the chat from the webcam, but record via the real video cam. Instructor verbally repeats the question he's about to answer (as any public speaker should) and that gets both questions and responses in the same video(s). After the session, the video recorded on the real video camera --not the webcam-- can be processed and published to GMC or just chopped and uploaded to youtube ...or whatever.
It requires more than one camera but I believe the instructors that are most likely to broadcast something big-and-organized would be able to meet that requirement. Some more easily than others, I guess. At the very least, the guys working near each other or near one of the GMC-approved studios wouldn't have much trouble with that arrangement.. right?
