Yes but only by a fraction Andrew wink.gif Hell i could probably be a GMC FLy Fishing instructor laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

But seriously though, to me Paul Gilbert is just totally awe inspiring. Sure there are guys out there who can shred faster and harder but its not always just about technique for me. The man is just as at home playing a lush series of chords as he is doing some crazy runs. I particularly like the way he studies classical pieces to draw inspiration!

Hes a bit of a Nerd, a bit of a Geek and doesent take himself too seriously! biggrin.gif

Im seriously tempted to get one of his Instructional DVD's, but i have so much GMC lessons to do its going to have to wait!

The "intense rock I" is really hot! It changed my vision of guitar playing.

I've been a huge fan of Paul during many years. In my instructional DVD, I also explain one of his licks, there's a little rip off at the very end of the trailer, if you wanna check.

To answer your idea, IMO, there are already so many lessons from Gilbert himself availabe everywhere on the web that I dont see the interest of doing one here at GMC.
Actually, I like your idea but honestly who would dare to do such a challenging lesson.

Dude, Roo, can you do a lesson on the bebop scale or something with the bebop scale?

Maybe there's already some bebop in Roo's Farm but I'm not sure and I bet you are.

So anyway I'm pretty new to the bebop scale and would like to know more about it smile.gif
It has something to do with chromatics that all I know smile.gif

cant wait for your next lesson

Hey Ezra, I'm sure Roo could handle it but the BeBop scales is an 8 note Jazz scale, so maybe you should ask Ben as well ... having said that, there are no rules, and why shouldn't you use it in a metal or rock context smile.gif

Paul Gilbert is the coolest guy on earth, he freakin owns all other shredders. Paul Gilbert can actually make music, not just run up and down a scale.

If my situation gets out of control I could run down to Mexicoooooooo!

He also has a very interesting, and effective way of teaching rythem, but not with chords. Its in solos, licks, riffs, and improve!! Hmm I think i typed that right. His lesson on this is on youtube, and its in the guitar magazine you bought, because i bought that same one, with this shred masterclass thing!!

Hehe, I see what you mean but actually everybody use the Bebop scale...
Its actually a Myxolydian scale with an added 7M or a passing note between the 7b and the root notes.
Let's say, over G7 chord you play G Bebop: G A B C D E F (F#)
Sure there are lots of passing notes in my 2 first lessons that can be linked to this scale.
I assume as well that, in a jazz context, Ben could say much more about it. It's a great bluesy-fusion sounding tool. Or maybe Django's style lesson would be even better...
To conclude with something related to P.Gilbert's topic. Like any other instructors I guess, I try to read often lessons request. Its not possible yet to do "custom lesson" just from 1 request. I'll try to submitt something that take consider of all requests. Mixed with my own style, that must be technical and melodic and instructional material.
Also like Kristofer said, its important to play what we do the best. So for my next lessons, I will not take the risk to handle a lesson too far from my own style. Again, thx for the positives comments and even if negatives comments, they should help to keep realistic.
