I am looking for a new metal amp but they are all so expensive so I was thinking about getting a decent clean amp with an effects loop and plugging a PodXT Live (or another processor) into the effects loop return jack.

Would this sound good? or is there an amp you recommend?

Thanks.

How much would one of those run?
Do you have a fairly inexpensive one to recommend?

Can anyone recommend a fairly priced PA set-up?

What kind of sound are you looking for? Even "metal" could be anything from a Marshal to a Mesa.

I've read Andrews posts and I've picked up a thing or two and understand that you don't use a guitar amp with the POD.
And getting a PA with speakers and a POD is as expensive as getting a good amp.

Judging from the epithet "metal amp" and inexpensive I'd say what first comes to mind is the Peavey Valveking. You got your metal amp and value for money right there!
For more british tone of metal there's Laney.

Very true, but I didn't have anything specific in mind.

Thanks for your amp recommendations, I'll check them out.
