Hello fellow guitarists!

I have a Squier Fat Strat

And I have long had a problem with my whammy leaning too much forward, touching the volume knobs and also the strings mad.gif

I tried to keep the whammy at place while tuning the guitar but it just leaned forward again getting out of tune, then when I tune the strings again i have to tune them 3-4 times to get it right because as I tune one string, another one goes out of tune etc.. And of course, the whammy is leaning way too much forward when it's in tune again sad.gif

I checked out this topic(even tho i dont have a floyd rose), but it didn't help much.

Anyone who can help me solve this problem?
Oh, by the way if you need picture i can upload as soon as i find the cable to my camera ohmy.gif

Cheers,
Raiz!

Sounds wierd if's soo much leaned it touches the knob and strings blink.gif

Are there any springs at all if you look behind the back plate?? At usual there sits 3 springs between the block and body.

Btw - The linked topic doesn't lead anywhere

    usually there are three
at the base of where the springs attache to the guitar there should be two phillips screws that you can tighten as well

I don't know how to do that sad.gif

just to be sure --you can pull your notes up or does the body of the guitar stop it

If you mean pull notes up (higher notes) with the whammy , yes tongue.gif
But At the moment i cant pull them down! :S

      Usually both ways.

there should probably be three spings
when you add a spring-make them equally spaced
such as -- if there are five spaces one in the middle and one on the furthest outside pegs
when you tune - you will have to reset the spring plate -retune -reset the plate afew times maybe adjusting the height of the tremolo tell it is just right

I'd say rather than tightening it you really want to put a 3rd spring in. tighten up the screws for a short term fix but generally I reckon you want 3 . (I have 4 or 5 in mine!!)

I think you should take it to a luthier. I think that because of this tremolo problem, the guitar needs a calibration too. So, I think it might be better to take it to someone who knows better to do the job for you.

Thicker strings makes more tension than thinner ones. That's why this happens to you.
