He guys!
I'm really excited about the fact that my newest lesson is up today https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Rearranging-A-Cover/ - so I thought I'd break the ice with a bunch of questions, which should help us discover interesting ways of approaching the processes used when covering a song. - Do you learn the original note by note and then try to perform as close as the original goes? - Do you personalize it by adding your favorite chord positions/ intervals/ effects to the original chord progression? - How much time do you dedicate to recording and actual production of your little "transformer song" I'm very curious to see how you guys like to work in this particular area , so don't be shy, throw everything you got at me! And of course if there are any questions you'd like to ask regarding this field - I am all yours Cosmin |

Cool topic! I had to record a cover for a tribute with my band Cirse. The artist is Luis Alberto Spinetta and they said that the song that we should record was "Alma de Diamante". Spinetta is a very talented and legendary musician here but I'm not very into his music so I didn't know the song. When I first listened to it I said.. this will be difficult!! hahah
I was listening a lot to A Perfect Circle at that time. They have many song in 6/8 and 3/4. "Alma de diamante" is in 4/4. I had the idea of changing the meter of the song to 6/8 and give it a feel similar to A Perfect Circle.. Check out both versions! Original: Cirse's Version: and the questions for this one.. Do you learn the original note by note and then try to perform as close as the original goes? no, I didn't - Do you personalize it by adding your favorite chord positions/ intervals/ effects to the original chord progression? definitely! - How much time do you dedicate to recording and actual production of your little "transformer song" smile.gif Many time! I developed the idea in a week I think. Not too much work but I have been thinking on how to re-arrange it in a cool way. Hey Gabriel! I like what you've done The arrangement is very interesting and the fact that you listen to APC can only bring good stuff to anything you do. I love almost everything in which Mr. Maynard is involved pure genius that guy! Thank you Cosmin!! yeah I'm a big fan of Maynard and Josh Freese! I met Josh some months ago and he said me that APC was planing to reunite and record a new album the next year. It would be so great if this happens! He felt so surprised when I showed him my APC tattoo! hahaha. -------------------- My lessons
