I'm really wanting to try the Axe Effects. I"ve heard so much about them and they sound amazing. Megadeth are using them now I understand. Not cheap though. But I gather it's worth the money. Anybody using one here on GMC? yeah, I didn't try it but I would love to do it! It think that it's a really good tool for the studio... I don't know if anybody here is using it.. -------------------- My lessons

All three devices look very nice, the sound samples not that great, David seems to go from one preset to another without tweaking, probly leaving everything to 12 o clock, which is a fair comparison, but from those sounds what can you really judge?
Some important things to consider that are not mentioned in the video: Getting something just because it is new and considered "best" now, and spending a lot of money on it won't get best tones in the world. HQ guitar, monitors, and other system components are also needed for the people to create better sounding pilot projects. Pilot projects, demo projects is the only thing this device can serve in the studio, which I don't think it's that good investment. For that much money, surely a good audio card with good converters and proper guitar software can be obtained. With one software licence, you can upgrade to newer generations more cheapily. Software is coming a long way, and it several years will sound very very authentic. Axe FX Ultra unit is already becoming outdated, you can see it doesn't act as an interface, and it costs a lot. I would say that Axe units are primarily designed for live usage, rather then audio interfaces. Adding USB interface to an Axe unit is an OK solution, but imagine you need to use it as a sound card, and constantly carry it on gigs as well. All that plugin/unplugin of cables doesn't make it too practical, and the device requires a rack (if it were a half rack, it would be more portable). So it's great to spend the money for it, but at the end of the day, it's good without it too. It still sounds like a processor live, and in studio, and it stills requires additional investments to put it to a good use, power conditioner+rack+amplifying gear for live, or great monitors, good room treatment and good computer for studio use. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

This is a very raw recording directly from usb.. (forgive my random playing, yea it sucks!) I like how the 'attack' comes to life. The recording somehow (using garageband) is more trebly than what I hear on headphones direct. I tried fender style clean amp and I am so excited about this. I need to figure out how to tweak things.. so many options!!

Your point of view really make sense Ivan. I don't hate this machines (I would love to check them) but I agree with your thoughts. -------------------- My lessons
