For those of you who don't know what bonsai means:

Bonsai = is a Japanese art form using miniature trees grown in containers.

They are wonderful little trees you can grow from almost any kind of tree if you follow a certain set of steps, or you can buy them already grown and just take care of them smile.gif

I currently have 1 bonsai and 2 ginseng plants (they resemble a bonsai but they are not) so, those of you who have bonsai - post some pics over here and let the world gaze at the wonderfulness of your tiny trees!

That's pretty cool Cosmin smile.gif I didn't know you can grow them from almost any type of tree, you mean you can take a seed from regular trees and grow a miniature one? What are the steps?

Actually, it doesn't start from the seeds biggrin.gif you get a little tree who has already grown a bit and you start trimming and adding some metal wires who will make the little tree grow in a certain form. Check out below:

I'll gather some stuff and detail some more procedures if you guys are interested biggrin.gif

You can make a bonsai out of any seed though. You just need to keep its growing space limited, and give it limited nutritions.

I love bonsai. I'm not too good with them though, but it's a road of learning smile.gif

wou! I didn't know that we can grow a bonsai from every kind of tree. I thought that the bonsais were a kind by themselves. I really like it and I would make grow some if I can learn how... smile.gif

hey they look so nice, but, are the trees alright? i mean, is not like having a human inside of a small cage restricted with wires and small portions of food so it can't develop fully?

maybe plants function differently but it looks a bit like cruel to me, correct me if i'm wrong tho, maybe they don't actually need to grow tall?

Adrian, I don't think it's cruelty, as we always cut plants and trees in order to make them grow in a certain way. It's like trimming the hedges smile.gif you know or mowing the lawn, or in the case of the bigger trees, I do believe that the term used is Grafting when we want to develop them into something interesting and new.

My little bonsai is never sad smile.gif I sing and play my guitar for it and it's always green and happy - I don't wanna sound like a nut but, plants respond to music and the way you talk to them.

My grandmother for instance, had a nice bonsai, but she has big nervous breakdowns and issues of that sort and she transmitted negative energy towards it...it eventually withered and died. So, yes, these little fellows are very sensitive.

I just red this post, and i think you are right man, maybe plants are different and don't have that need, i think it's safe and happy.

I don't think you sound like a nut case man, i totally get you, i'm not a plant guy but i do think they deserve respect and probably love as living things.

I remember when i lived on my parents house, they put a kinda sick and small cactus outside of the door of my studio/bedroom, and like out of magic it started to grow a lot and get better, my mom told me it was because i had all day the music on and loud and plants like that, i 100% believe it.

Now the cactus is very big, about twice is me, and it's healthy and in the same place, i just don't live there anymore but my dad has it's recording studio there smile.gif
