Silence does the trick for me smile.gif since I am a 'walker' laugh.gif my music player is packed and ready to go all the time wink.gif but while I am working, I need SILENCE, otherwise I end up focusing on the music and become totally oblivious regarding anything around biggrin.gif

Actually it would be terrible, Imagine sitting in front of mix that is overcompressed, over eq'ed, and way too loud for Hooooooooooooooours! laugh.gif

Its gotta happen often enough to hate it

Yes - sadly it's very, very often.

Shocking how many 'professional' mixing engineers send in mixes that are (unintentionally) clipped and distorted. More often than not when we politely point it out and ask for a remix they say, 'Oh er well yes it is I guess. Please don't tell the band/producer.' I sometimes wonder what goes on in these mix sessions and what the client is told ohmy.gif .
