Unfortunately, I'm not into playing Jazz or contemporary music, so I can't comment on that. A good place to start though, is telling us what you already know - we can work from there Fair enough, well lets see, i know a whole mess of different things, random aspects of each style. I mostly play blues at this point but i know all my 7th, -7th, maj7th, and min7flat5 chords. a few different voicings, triads, but i really want to get my technical skill up. Speed, technique in general. and i want to learn more full songs. To give a clear picture of what my techincal skill is like, i just learned and performed Jeff Beck's : Cause we've ended as lovers. Proud to say i learned that one entirely by ear:). Thanks so much! -Leonard Hi Leonard, welcome to GMC If you're going to work to get into a school I imagine that they'll expect a certain level of music theory knowledge. I'm not that hot on theory but between us all here we can help you with that if it's something you need to improve. Is there any areas of technique that you're interesting in working on ? Definately speed, sweep picking, etc. As interested as i am in jazz & whatnot, one of my current guitar hero's is Andy Timmons. and i dont really have the speed to play much from him. And ofcourse Satriani!. Jack thammarat is one of my hero's as well at the moment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FTryYf5MpY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAnv66NDZ74 Also one of my fairly long term goals is to be able to play this with ease. Its incredible. Captures the style i want to learn. |

I've got a legato series that may be of interest to you https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Land-Of-Legato/ There's also some great legato lessons by Juan Cortes that are more fusion based https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Legato-Workshop-1/ Legato's always a great place to get some sexy licks going ! |
