> IS THAT YOUR MAMA?

Nope didn't think so either. We all know parents don't get this.

I can show you how to be the virtuoso your folks could only dream about, but I first need your help:

* Pm me and I will show you where to start. I am online every day and I will help you out directly!

* Join my mentoring program. I will customize your learning experience in a way you haven't experienced before. We will have regular contact so that you can remain inspired every day and eventually reach a new level.

* Join my next video chat! GMC startpage holds a video chat schedule. We always cover a lot of ground and have fun. Remember that you don't need any previous knowledge, and you can be passive in the chat.

* Jam with me - you will find active collabs here.

* Post a topic on this board, guitar related or not - doesn't matter! You will find that chatting with instructors boosts your motivation to practice.

* You haven't missed my latest video lessons, have you?

* Oh and did you know that to become a killer guitarist you just need to focus on one thing? Everything
else is secondary. Pm me and I will explain.

Hey mate! This is your thread! biggrin.gif I'd like to start by asking you a few things about yourself, such as what knowledge do you have so far and where you'd see yourself in the near future, regarding guitar playing and what sort of music inspires you smile.gif

'Sup instructor ?! Thanks for take me in, even if i have not resest my subscription yet^^.

Let me introduce my self, My name's Paul 25 years old and started to playing guitar at 19, so its been 6 years....
All learned by myself with playing stuff like punk/neo metal and old school metal ( iron maiden > all ), then i grabed into Melodic death metal and play stuff like Dark tranquillity, In flames, Soilwork.
I like a lot modern heavy metal and Prog with band like Visions divine, Nocturnal Rites, Nightmare....
Actually im playing in a symphonic metal band, since 1 years, but i cant say im enjoying it like hell... for me its more like... training biggrin.gif

Where i see me in the near future ?

Well, since some time, ive becomed fan of metalcore and all sort of modern metal with syncopated rythms ( Threat signal, Fear factory, Mnemic, Periphery, Textures ) and this is it, the moment when i can say, " Ok i don't know playing guitar".
Im really stuck with these weird rythmics but i fucking love them and i want to play THAT stuff !!!! im not trying to say that i want to be able to play Bleed of messhugah, but i think i have not reach my fully potential.

HELPP ME COSMIIIIIIIN

My two really big problems for now ( without counting my very bad english ) are :

- Stamina ( you have to know my weight is 60kg , im not a viril muscled metalhead ) cause even if ive succeed to learn a hard riff, what is the use if i can play it only for 10 sec?

- Speed and precision ( no place for errors at 180 bpm... )

Hey Paul! Mate, you've come to the right place - I LOVE In FLames, Threat signal, Fear factory, Mnemic, Periphery, Textures biggrin.gif LITERALLY. I would say we need to focus on a rhythm oriented approach in order to get the riff motor chugging and in the same time develop a precise katana sharp technique.

For setting off with the right foot in both directions at once, I would suggest you telling me if this lesson is too easy for you and especially if you understand the theoretical aspects on which it was built? ;)visions u

All the rhythmic subdivisions used in the styles above start from ideas such as this. What do you think?

woow you hurting me Cosmin ! lool.

I see what you want me to learn, but im already pretty good at alternate picking and i think these picking rythms variation are too easy for me. To tell you my lvl i will say you that i am actually learning Through my eyes by Threat signal ( at 150 bpm, this song is actually at 166 )
this is the top i can play

I usually play lesson lvl 5 on gmc

Anyway, i gonna learn it,it cant be bad, but if you have other stuff, i take^^

Thanks for mentoring Cosmin

Mate! The Metal Metrics 2 lesson is a very nasty piece of work. I concocted it together with my other guitarist in Aria and it took us a while to get it flowing like this biggrin.gif

Did you understand the rhythmic pattern behind the groove? The secret lies in feeling the pulse wink.gif After that, the subdivisions will only have to be exercised, but the pulse is the tricky thing here.

One approach would be to learn how to sing the guitar part without the subdivisions:

- tap your foot to the ground against the lesson
- sing the pulse of the second part like this: taa ta taa ta taa ta ta ta taa ta taa ta taa ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta - a bit hard to explain but this is basically following the pulses of the bass drum biggrin.gif

After understanding this, thins will be much clearer biggrin.gif

what do you think?

Cosmin
