Have you ever wondered how animals manage to just cope with all the weird stuff we do and the unknown things that happen around them ?

Like turning on a light.. we know how and why a dark room can suddenly transform into bright light at the flick of a switch. Animals don't know this though. However, I've never seen an animal get freaked out or confused at that.. they just accept it. What other things can you think of that animals don't understand but accept as normal ?

I just can talk about my dog Luna.

She don't understand why she can't sleep in my bed ,
but when i am away she opens the bedroom door and lays down all over my bed and finds it normal. biggrin.gif

Actually, some animals do think about the future. It's been documented in a number of studies. Higher order animals understand more than is commonly given them credit for. Sentience/consciousness, information gathering and analysis, etc are on spectrums. It's not a case of humans have it and animals don't. Humans are after all a very high functioning animal.

And isn't there an assumption here that animals don't really understand what's going on because they haven't evolved to our level? Animals can learn things. A dog or cat may learn how to turn door handles so as to open a door that they wish to pass through. Sheep have been shown to be more intelligent than dogs yet we would balk at keeping a pet sheep and farming dogs for our food supply.

I'd suggest it more likely that we underestimate the intelligence and cognitive abilities of animal.

Flatulence. Most people run away once the trombone of death warns them of the impending assault on their olfactory. Animals however, stick around unflustered, and occasionally even investigate the noxious emission blink.gif

Well, today, the doctor came in to take care of vaccinating my little and big canine friends smile.gif needless to say, the big one was kind of angry about it and it took me and dad to hold him from tearing that poor lady to pieces.

I don't want to think about what was going on in his big dog soul in those moments: 'These people are crazy! I am guarding their house and this is how they repay me? By holding me so that annoying female will stab me with the needle!!??'

laugh.gif

Conclusion: When the doc was done, I gave him a biscuit and he just came to cuddle laugh.gif
