Alrighty-then ! You've had a break with the bluesy little journey we took so now I wanna get those engines stoked up with enough fuel to get some more speed and performance out of those fingers this week !

We've got double stop bends, wide vibrato, legato, picking... and it's all thrown together into a big cauldron and boiled alive !

The hardest parts are probably just the legato licks which aren't that bad at all really as they use correct timing over the beat. There's none of that 'flowing over the beat' mischief that I sometimes do... wink.gif

I know you guys can handle this so I look forward to you blowing my socks off with your takes !

Deadline is next Friday 31st August !

Whoa! I never really looked closely into this lesson, although my first collab was based on its backing track. I'll have a glance later today, but going away tomorrow and will not be able to practice for several days. mad.gif It's long and has lots of different types of licks. And its FAST! We'll see.....

Boy, are you in trouble!

Seriously though, I guess it's a combination of summer holidays and changed working conditions. And I'll still pop in for my entrance theme song on Tuesday. smile.gif

Cool! Looks like there are a couple parts that exceed my speed limit (quick AP runs) but for a level 7 lesson, I might actually have a shot at this one! Watching the video this actually feels pretty doable for me even though the highest lesson level I've completed so far is 5. This is a far cry from where I was when we first got started, so thanks for that Ben! Your tough love is paying off. ph34r.gif

Oh yeah, that solo is hot! I might have a small window to do a REC take before the deadline so I will give it a shot!

Wow, that kicks ass !! Fantastic job Senor cool.gif

I detected an interesting deviation from the melody at 0:16 but everything else was pretty much there ! You also managed to negotiate around the fact that your LP doesn't have 24 frets as well, good work smile.gif

The bends sound excellent, really 'you' !

Of course, 1 Donut is now yours to eat !

But do tell us a little bit about your experience of learning it, what bits you found the hardest etc.. smile.gif

Thanks man!

Well, the lesson really kicked my butt all over the place. I had to isolate a lot of areas with those arrows on the lessons main page and just loop it over and over (thank goodness for that feature). It's a pretty long solo so it was a bit overwhelming at first! wink.gif

I know I would've benefit from a couple more days with this, as I'm missing some details. I'm going out of town for a while so yesterday was make or break!

Some of the hardest parts:
The legato lick at :16 was probably the hardest and it shows. I still want to get that lick down. I guess I played something "legato". It sounds really smooth in the lesson were it goes fast to slow... almost Yngwie like. Also the double stop lick at :52 is a tricky son of a gun. The sliding Satch legato lick was tricky too but once I got that down it was my favorite lick to play. Oh, the lick that starts :59 is pretty easy until it speeds up and goes into that pinky bend. Something about changing gears there and then going into the bend was causing me some fits.

I should also mention that I spent a heck of a lot more time with the first half. The second half I barley had memorized. Specially the last fast AP run. I also played the ending phrase a bit different which I realized later. Again it is probably just a matter of having a little more time with it.

Overall, I think its the hardest lesson I have completed. It might give me the courage to finish "Marty Rocks" lesson!

Thanks for the insight, that's really interesting. I know that feeling of barely memorising a solo and trying to engage your brain whilst playing through the thing !!

That Satch type lick feels really satisfying doesn't it ? It was probably one of my faves too biggrin.gif

Here is my slightly overdue take. Might be an off bend and a choked note or two in there, but I'm gonna post it anyway.

Brutalius !! biggrin.gif

It's good to hear you blazing on this one.. love your vibrato and tone ! Some of the bends were 'interesting', as you alluded to but I put that down to the adrenaline racing through your veins !! cool.gif

Which parts did you find that you adapted to naturally and which parts where the hardest ?

The hardest part for me was "the tricky son of a gun" fast as a shark double stop lick.

I also have some trouble with the very end of the last fast lick, where I need to cross the E string with and outside motion.

I got somewhat used to first ascending lick with the slides, after a while. And for some reason it took me some time to grasp the descending pentatonic thing following the 1 1/2 bend and full bend.

The rest were rather natural, although not easy.
