I've become a huge fan of spotify.

I pay 10 bucks a month and can listen to anything I want, wherever I want to.

I think the free version also lets you listen to most stuff, but you can't download anything to your phone (which I do a lot)

Hi Oscar, I'm assuming you're asking because you're thinking of making your music available to buy online ? smile.gif

I've only had experience with itunes, which has worked fine for me so far. I don't know about all these other things like Spotify etc, but if something works for me and doesn't cause me any problems then that's all I ask for from a service.

To put your music on itunes you need to first sign up with a digital distributor. The 'Big 2' are Tunecore or CD Baby. I went with Tunecore because it's better for digital only albums.. whereas CD Baby is good if you want to sell physical CD's too.

My experience with Tunecore so far has been painless and easy. I pay them the money, they do exactly what they say and give me what I want. Job done ! smile.gif

It's not the best way for the artist. I worked out on average
If you assume an album has 10 tracks and sells for $10, you 'd have to listen to it 192 times on spotify for the artist to receive $10, I like to buy direct from the artist whenever possible.

I have no experience with Bandcamp myself, but it looks good.

With Tunecore you pay upfront fees to upload an distribute an album or single.. but after that all proceeds are yours.

At least I think so huh.gif

I've checked other forums and Bandcamp looks like the favourite for mp3 sales.

I believe CD Baby will only distribute you if you have a physical product, and sell CDs, though they sort out the digital distribution with Itunes and Amazon etc
